2021 Longhorn Elite Classic: Texas, Stanford, Cal, Texas A&M Highlight Stacked Closed Meet<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

As the countdown to Olympic Trials approaches 26 days, some of the best from Texas, Stanford, Texas A&M and Cal Berkeley will convene in Austin this coming weekend in a closed invite as the final meet ahead of the Omaha Trials before everyone heads back to start resting to chase spots in Tokyo.<\/p>\n

The Texas men, fresh off their NCAA title in March, will be racing in their home pool as\u00a0Carson Foster\u00a0<\/strong>and postgrads\u00a0Will Licon<\/strong>, Townley Haas\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Gunnar Bentz\u00a0<\/strong>are top seeds in their respective events.\u00a0Jack Collins<\/strong>,\u00a0Drew Kibler\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Austin Katz\u00a0<\/strong>also will be in attendance as the Longhorn men look to gain some momentum heading into Trials.<\/p>\n

Texas A&M superstar\u00a0Shaine Casas<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>will also be at the meet as will\u00a0Koko Bratanov<\/strong>, who will be gunning for a spot in Tokyo while representing Bulgaria. The Stanford men will have some Olympic contenders in\u00a0Grant Shoults<\/strong>, who made the 2019 Worlds team, and\u00a0Daniel Roy<\/strong>, who has the fastest time in the nation in the 200 breast this season.<\/p>\n

On the women’s side, superstars\u00a0Katie Ledecky\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Simone Manuel<\/strong>, arguably the two best women swimmers in the world<\/a>, will be at the meet racing their events they won in Rio and will look to put up some times to respond to the quick swimming going on throughout the globe.<\/p>\n

Texas’\u00a0Anna Elendt\u00a0<\/strong>will be going for a spot in Tokyo for her native Germany while\u00a0Madisyn Cox\u00a0<\/strong>will potentially be swimming her last meet ever in Austin.<\/p>\n

Stanford’s\u00a0Brooke Forde\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Katie Drabot<\/strong>, who made the 2019 Worlds team for the United States, will be at the meet as well as they will be pushing for their first Olympic berth each at Trials in June.<\/p>\n

The meet will begin May 20 and finish on Saturday, May 23.<\/p>\n
