Pieroni currently is the third fastest American this season ahead of Trials as he won tonight in his home state ahead of\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/pre-order-the-june-2021-issue-of-swimming-world-magazine-featuring-nathan-adrian\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nathan Adrian<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>(48.91) and\u00a0<strong>Ryan Held<\/strong> (49.21).<\/p>\n<p>Those three are the top three in the US at the moment as Held leads the national rankings ahead of Adrian and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usaswimming.org\/meet-the-team\/national-team\/bio\/blake-pieroni\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pieroni<\/a> in what will be a can&#8217;t miss race come Olympic Trials in Omaha.<\/p>\n<p>Pieroni was out in 23.5 and came back in a 25.2 as he should also be dangerous in the 200 freestyle tomorrow.\u00a0<strong>Alfonso Mestre<\/strong>, who led at the 50, was seventh at 49.50.\u00a0<strong>Michael Chadwick<\/strong>, who was eighth at the 50, was fourth at 49.22. He finished ahead of\u00a0<strong>Jorge Iga\u00a0<\/strong>(49.23) and\u00a0<strong>Zach Apple\u00a0<\/strong>(49.32).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Results:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Blake Pieroni, 48.76<\/li>\n<li>Nathan Adrian, 48.91<\/li>\n<li>Ryan Held, 49.21<\/li>\n<li>Michael Chadwick, 49.22<\/li>\n<li>Jorge Iga, 49.23<\/li>\n<li>Zach Apple, 49.32<\/li>\n<li>Alfonso Mestre, 49.50<\/li>\n<li>Bowe Becker, 50.12<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>In the women&#8217;s 100 freestyle,\u00a0<strong>Linnea Mack<\/strong> backed up her swim from this morning with a 54.00 to win the event ahead of NCAA runner-up\u00a0<strong>Kate Douglass\u00a0<\/strong>(54.30) and Virginia postgrad\u00a0<strong>Catie DeLoof\u00a0<\/strong>(54.36). From this morning, Mack put herself fourth in the national rankings with her swim of 53.7, as she has put herself in contention to make the 4&#215;100 free relay team for Tokyo. Douglass and DeLoof also had solid swims, sitting eighth and ninth respectively in the national rankings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Allison Schmitt\u00a0<\/strong>(54.60) finished in fourth as she made the 4&#215;100 free relay team at the last two Olympics.\u00a0<strong>Beata Nelson<\/strong> (54.74) and\u00a0<strong>Erika Brown\u00a0<\/strong>(54.85), who are in their first year of postgrad swimming after stellar short course yards careers, finished fifth and sixth respectively in the women&#8217;s final.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Results:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Linnea Mack, 54.00<\/li>\n<li>Kate Douglass, 54.30<\/li>\n<li>Catie DeLoof, 54.36<\/li>\n<li>Allison Schmitt, 54.60<\/li>\n<li>Beata Nelson, 54.74<\/li>\n<li>Erika Brown, 54.85<\/li>\n<li>Chloe Stepanek, 55.32<\/li>\n<li>Mallory Comerford, 55.37<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mack on her race:\u00a0\u201cThat was just the race that we\u2019ve been patterning for the last couple of months\u2014or even the last year\u2014so that\u2019s just what it was today.
