Andrew Fowler<\/strong> and Jamila Sanmoogan<\/strong> have been selected as Guyana\u2019s two swimming representatives for the Tokyo Olympic Games.<\/p>\n

The decision was reported<\/a> by News Room Sport<\/em> in Guyana and confirmed by the president of the Guyana Amateur Swimming Association Dwayne Scott<\/strong>. Both swimmers are selected to occupy universality spots.<\/p>\n

Fowler, 25, was one of two men to represent Guyana at the 2019 World Championships, swimming the 50 and 100 free. He placed 97th and 93rd in those events, respectively. His most recent times in those events, from the UANA qualifier in Florida last month<\/a>, are 25.50 in the 50 free and 55.46 in the 100.<\/p>\n

Sanmoogan, 24, earned the women\u2019s spot at the 2016 Rio Olympics, placing 63rd in the 50 free in 28.88. She swam the 50 free and 50 butterfly at the 2017 World Championships, setting a national record in the latter, competed in the same two events at the 2019 edition. Sanmoogan went 28.81 at the UANA qualifier in the 50 free.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
