NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>Cornell University has picked up a new commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond from distance freestyle ace Lexie Vanderloo<\/strong> of Leesburg, Va.<\/p>\n

She will join\u00a0Sky DuPont<\/strong><\/a>, Amanda Petersen <\/strong><\/a>and Alex<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>Syrkin\u00a0<\/strong>as a member of the Big Red’s Class of 2025.<\/p>\n

She told\u00a0Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n

“I am so excited to announce I will be continuing my academic and swimming career at Cornell University! Big thanks to my family, friends, coaches, and teammates for helping me get to this point. Go Big Red!?\u2764\ufe0f”<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Vanderloo specializes in distance freestyle and butterfly and also competes in open water events. She recently competed in the 2021 USA Swimming Open Water National Championship in Fort Myers Beach, Fla., in the 5K race, placing 12th overall.<\/p>\n

In summer 2020, Vanderloo competed in the Finger Lakes Open Water Swim Festival in the double-marathon 20K where she won the women\u2019s event and placed third overall.<\/p>\n

In the pool, Vanderloo raced to 14th in the 500 free at the 18&U Winter Championships in December 2020, finished 15th in the 200 free at Potomac Valley Seniors in February 2020, and more recently earned a best time at the TIDE Speedo Show last month.<\/p>\n
