ERLANGER, Ky, Jan. 11. THE University of Kentucky men\u2019s (2-3, 0-3 SEC) and women\u2019s (1-4, 0-3 SEC) swim teams swept the University of Cincinnati on Saturday, in Erlanger, Ky. The UK women outscored UC 114 – 79 while the men bested the Bearcats 113.5 – 81.5.<\/p>\n
Freshman Brennan Moore continued her strong debut season with the Wildcats as she won the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:19.97) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:08.34). Moore also finished second in the 200 IM (2:09.72), just behind fellow freshman Shantel Commander, who won the event in a time of 2:09.29.<\/p>\n
Sophomore Marci Vrooman also took victory in two events, winning both the 200 freestyle (1:54.79) and the 500 freestyle (5:06.16). <\/p>\n
Joanna Chetcuti-McLean won the 50 free (24.87), closely followed by Jessica Siegele (25.05), and finished second in the 100 free (54.14). <\/p>\n
The Wildcat 400 medley relay team of McLean, Commander, Siegele and Kelly Hoffrage won that event in a time of 3:57.27. <\/p>\n
The 200 backstroke was the strongest event for the Kentucky women, with Jenaca Pumphrey (2:09.38) and Shawna Sechrist (2:10.83) combining with Moore to sweep the event.<\/p>\n

The UK men dominated the 200 freestyle with Daniel Cruz (1:41.95), Daniel Farnham (1:42.56) and Jon Cartledge (1:47.49) finishing first, second, and third, respectively. <\/p>\n
Matt Nilson (1:51.46) and Joey Faltraco (1:55.20) finished one-two in the 200 butterfly while Faltraco (1:50.67) and Cody Nath (1:56.13) accomplished the same feat in the 200 backstroke. <\/p>\n
Steven Manley was victorious in the 500 freestyle (4:36.33) and finished second in the 200 IM (1:51.81). <\/p>\n
Faltraco, Cruz, Roger Watkins and Fernando Barros won the 400 medley relay in a time of 3:26.70, beating out UK\u2019s second team of Cody Nath, Aaron Cuker, Clay Gasparovich and Nilson (3:30.69).<\/p>\n
The two UK teams will be back in action on Feb. 1, as they travel to Baton Rouge, La., for a date with the LSU Tigers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
