Southwestern Oregon is second with 329, followed by Iowa Central (286), Jamestown (158) and Erie (91).<\/p>\n<p>Indian River started strong with the women winning the 200 free relay. <strong>Taryn Dailey, Sydney Weatherspoon, Catherine Royden-Turner<\/strong> and<strong> Kailea Green<\/strong> touched the wall in 1:37.15, nearly three seconds ahead of the field.<\/p>\n<p>The men followed suit as <strong>Nicholas Fauteux, Dean Walker, Luke Altmann<\/strong> and <strong>John Geiger<\/strong> won in 1:21.57 \u2014\u00a0four seconds ahead of the field.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/indian-river-sprints-into-lead-at-njcaa-championships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Day 1 recap<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Royden-Turner won the NJCAA title in the 50 backstroke (25.73), leading a 1-2-3-4 finish for Indian River with <strong>Ella Gates<\/strong> (26.65), <strong>Erifylli<\/strong> <strong>Maroutsou<\/strong> (27.14) and <strong>Gwendolyn Bencie<\/strong> (27.19).<\/p>\n<p>Dailey won the 100 butterfly in 55.32 ahead of Gates (56.16), Maroutsou (58.13) and <strong>Ashley Sterchele<\/strong> (58.15), a 1-2-3-4 finish.<\/p>\n<p>Indian River went 1-2-3 in the women\u2019s 400 IM behind <strong>Rylee Woelk<\/strong> (4:31.96), <strong>Esther Rydbeck<\/strong> (4:34.72) and <strong>Samantha<\/strong> <strong>van Vuure<\/strong> (4:38.45).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Victoria Ortiz<\/strong> won the 200 free in 1:52.24 to lead a top-four step with Green (1:55.47),<strong> Lillian Lewis<\/strong> (1:56.22) and <strong>Ashlynn Amon<\/strong> (1:57.65).<\/p>\n<p>For the men, <strong>Aramis Rivera<\/strong> won the NJCAA title in the men\u2019s 400 IM for Indian River, finishing in 3:54.56 to finish ahead of Iowa Central\u2019s <strong>Kyle McKenzie<\/strong> (3:56.00).<\/p>\n<p>In the men\u2019s 100 butterfly,<strong> Brennan Hammond<\/strong> won in 48.69 to lead a top-four sweep for Indian River with <strong>Liam Henry<\/strong> (48.82), Fauteaux (49.75) and Walker (50.11).<\/p>\n<p>Indian River\u2019s <strong>Caleb Brandon<\/strong> won the 200 free in 1:38.50 ahead of Zeiger (1:39.56), Altmann (1:39.96) and <strong>Chance Conde<\/strong> (1:40.64).<\/p>\n<p>Royden-Turner, Woelk, Dailey and Weatherspoon won the NJCAA title in the 400 medley relay (3:53.53) for the women.<\/p>\n<p>For the men, <strong>Jhon Moncada<\/strong>, <strong>Michael Deans<\/strong>, Hammond and Walker won in 3:17.59.<\/p>\n<p>Southwest Oregon\u2019s <strong>Alejandro Robles Ruiz<\/strong> won the men\u2019s 50 back in 23.13, ahead of Indian River\u2019s Moncada (23.76).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships continued on Thursday at Anne Wilder Aquatic Complex with Indian River building its lead on the men\u2019s and women\u2019s side.
