﻿{"id":471109,"date":"2021-04-29T08:26:19","date_gmt":"2021-04-29T15:26:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=471109"},"modified":"2021-04-29T08:26:19","modified_gmt":"2021-04-29T15:26:19","slug":"indian-river-sprints-into-lead-at-njcaa-championships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/indian-river-sprints-into-lead-at-njcaa-championships\/","title":{"rendered":"Indian River Sprints into Lead at NJCAA Championships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships opened on Wednesday at Anne Wilder Aquatic Complex with Indian River looking to continue its streak of championships.<\/p>\n<p>Indian River\u2019s <strong>Victoria Ortiz<\/strong> won the 1,000 freestyle (10:11.62), going 1-2-3-4-5 with teammates <strong>Esther Rydbeck<\/strong> (10:17.70), <strong>Ashlynn Amon<\/strong> (10:30.67), <strong>Samantha van Vuure<\/strong> (10:38.39) and<strong> Isabella Cabrera Duarte<\/strong> (10:54.13).<\/p>\n<p>Indian River went 1-2-3 in the men\u2019s 1,000 free behind<strong> Chance Conde<\/strong> (9:12.43), <strong>Maxwell Miller<\/strong> (9:34.76) and <strong>Connor<\/strong> <strong>Jones<\/strong> (9:36.53).<\/p>\n<p>The Indian River dominance continued in the 200 IM with<strong> Taryn Dailey<\/strong> (2:06.00) and <strong>Rylee Woelk<\/strong> (2:07.58) going 1-2. <strong>Aramis Rivera<\/strong> (1:48.63) won the men\u2019s race in the 200 IM for Indian River.<\/p>\n<p>The NJCAA women\u2019s 50 freestyle was not won by Indian River as Jamestown\u2019s <strong>Marianne Yuchnitz<\/strong> won in 23.87. But Indian River took places 2-6 led by<strong> Sydney Weatherspoon<\/strong> (24.21) who took second.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/category\/college\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">More college news<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the men\u2019s 50 free, Indian River\u2019s <strong>Dean Walker<\/strong> won in 20.66.<\/p>\n<p>Indian River won the women\u2019s 800 free relay with Rydbeck, Ortiz,<strong> Kailea Green<\/strong> and <strong>Lillian Lewis<\/strong> (7:41.21), besting the rest of the field by a stunning 22 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>The Indian River men won the 800 free relay as well with <strong>Caleb Brandon<\/strong>, Conde, <strong>Brennan Hammond<\/strong> and <strong>John Zeiger<\/strong> winning in 6:41.70.<\/p>\n<p>The NJCAA Championships saw other fast performers as well.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.njcaa.org\/championships\/sports\/swimdive\/index\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">More from the meet<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Iowa Central\u2019s <strong>Magali Mouton<\/strong> won the women\u2019s 50 breaststroke in 29.99.<\/p>\n<p>Barton CC\u2019s <strong>Johan Cue Carrillo<\/strong> won the men\u2019s 50 breaststroke in 24.53.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships opened on Wednesday at Anne Wilder Aquatic Complex with Indian River looking to continue its streak of championships.
