British Swimming<\/strong> also announced that the final Olympic consideration meet will be called the Glasgow Swim Meet<\/strong> and will take place from 3-6 June with evening heats and morning finals to mirror the Tokyo schedule.<\/p>\n

Aside from possible Olympic qualification, Budapest also offers a chance to give some of the younger swimmers further racing experience in senior waters with eyes on Paris in 2024.<\/p>\n

Among them Ed Mildred<\/strong>, who won six medals at the 2019 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival<\/strong>, and Katie Shanahan<\/strong>, who also took home a six-strong haul from Baku.<\/p>\n

So too have Hector Pardoe, Toby Robinson<\/strong> and Emily Clarke<\/strong> been added to the squad for Budapest where they will compete in the open water.<\/p>\n
Robinson will compete in the Tokyo 10k qualifier in Portugal in June after replacing Jack Burnell following his retirement and both he and Pardoe are looking for racing practice.<\/p>\n
Budapest has never been part of Alice Dearing<\/strong> and Danielle Huskisson<\/strong>‘s training plans ahead of the qualifier.<\/p>\n
With international racing opportunities limited over the past year, National Performance Director<\/strong> Chris Spice<\/strong> is looking forward to seeing British athletes back in the water alongside top-class rivals from across the continent.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

“This event comes at an opportune moment as we step up our final preparations for Tokyo, bringing the team together for the first time since our announcement on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
“Whilst we have enjoyed the experience of domestic racing with the recent selection trials and the two meets in Manchester before that, this will be our first time back in international competition in over a year.<\/p>\n

“This will be another big step forward, and we fully support and thank LEN and our fellow European national teams for committing to this important racing opportunity.<\/p>\n
“We are confident that the protocols and guidance will be in place to ensure the safest possible environment for our athletes, coaches and support staff.<\/p>\n
“The European Championships are also another important element in our Olympic selection policy, so the week of racing will be an opportunity for some athletes to put in the performances they need to and that we know they are capable of.<\/p>\n
“It is also a key chance to test out our relay squads and seek Olympic qualification where necessary, whilst for the younger members of the squad, it will be a valuable learning experience on their journey into Paris 2024 and beyond.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
