THE University of Denver swimming and diving teams won 24 of the 32 events contested this evening en route to a sweep of BYU and New Mexico on Friday night. Samantha Corea and Amanda Sanders each had three wins apiece for the Pioneer women, while Kyle Milberg and Dylan Bunch picked up three wins each for the men&#8217;s team.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Denver Press Release<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Winning 24-of-32 events, the University of Denver swimming and diving teams defeated BYU (M\/W) and University of New Mexico (W) at the El Pomar Natatorium on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Denver\u2019s men (175 points) defeated BYU (125 points). The women swam to the top spot with 199 points, beating BYU (158 points) and University of New Mexico (140 points).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re really pleased with our results tonight,\u201d head swimming coach Brian Schrader said. \u201cI know our kids were motivated to come in and race hard, and they did. I\u2019m really impressed with our team\u2019s effort from top to bottom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Denver started out with a win in the women\u2019s 200 medley relay. The team of Johanna Roas (Munich, Germany), Amanda Sanders (Littleton, Colo.), Drew Matthews (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) and Samantha Corea (Vancouver, British Columbia) posted the top time in the event.<\/p>\n<p>The women continued strong with a one-two-three sweep in the 100 free. Clara Jenck (Phoenix, Ariz.) claimed first with a time of 10:31.25 with Jaclyn Best (Boulder, Colo.) coming in second (10:34.22) and Nicole Cassou (Castle Rock, Colo.) in third (10:34.39).<\/p>\n<p>Leading Denver\u2019s women were Corea and Sanders who each came away with three individual wins. Corea placed first in the 100 back (56.03), the 200 back (2:01.56) and the 100 fly (55.83), while Sanders was victorious in the 100 breast (1:04.03), the 200 breast (2:19.85) and the 200 IM (2:08.80).<\/p>\n<p>Also successful for the women were Bridgette McNally (Lonetree, Colo.) and Roas who both posted two individual wins each. McNally won the 200 free (1:53.44) and the 500 free (5:04.08), and Roas beat the competition in the 50 free (23.97) and 100 free (51.00).<\/p>\n<p>Closing out the meet with yet another win, the team of Roas, Zoe Huddleston (Rothschild, Wis.), Matthews and Kacie Van Buskirk (South Lyon, Mich.) won the 200 free relay (1:35.45).<\/p>\n<p>Kyle Milberg (Littleton, Colo.) and Dylan Bunch (Boulder City, Nev.) lead DU\u2019s men with three individual wins each. Milberg claimed victories in the 100 back (49.49), 200 back (2:47.00) and the 100 fly (49.29) while Bunch won the 500 free (4:35.18), the 1000 free (9:33.52) and the 200 free (1:41.07). Posting two wins for the Pioneers was Tanner Krall (Pueblo, Colo.) who placed first in the 100 breast (56.61) and the 200 breast (2:05.87).<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Torres (Arvada, Colo.) and Kyle Robrock (Savage, Mich.) swam to top spots as well. Torres came in first in the 200 fly (1:49.98) and Robrock was victorious in the 100 free (46.27)<\/p>\n<p>Denver\u2019s divers also brought in big scores for the Pioneers. Junior Ross Edfort (Somerset, N.J.) came away with a first place in the 1-meter (318.4) and a second in the 3-meter (310.25). For the women, Cat Badillo claimed third in the 1-meter dive (262.65).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe divers did well getting back into the routine of competition,\u201d head diving coach Channing Kimball said. \u201cThey were able to score significant points against two strong diving teams.
