It was just .02 under the Olympic A cut in the event. Uzbekistan already has an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fina.org\/athletes\/1019914\/khurshidjon-tursunov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">A cut in the 100 free<\/a> via <strong>Khurshidjon Tursunov<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Tarasenko also won the 50 free in 22.99 <a href=\"https:\/\/ru.aquatics.uz\/poslednie-novosti\/post\/chempionat-uzbekistana-po-plavaniyu-chetvertyj-den\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">on Friday<\/a>. Tarasenko swam this year at the University of Iowa. He is transferring to the University of Tennessee after the Hawkeyes announced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/university-of-iowa-to-cut-swimming-diving-after-2020-21-season-updated\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">they were discontinuing the program<\/a>. Tarasenko had gone 50.35 in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usaswimming.org\/docs\/default-source\/default-document-library\/complete-us-open-results390d57fa6cbc6a0a9b57ff00009030c2.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">last November&#8217;s Toyota U.S. Open<\/a>, his previous best in the 100 free. He was 22.85 in the 50 at that meet.<\/p>\n<p>The meet, designated an official qualifying event for the 2021 Olympics, hosted 161 athletes from central Asia and India. As part of the event, the Swimming Federation of Uzbekistan signed <a href=\"https:\/\/ru.aquatics.uz\/poslednie-novosti\/post\/podpisan-memorandum-o-vzaimnom-sotrudnichestve-s-nacionalnoj-federaciya-plavaniya-afganistana\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a partnership agreement<\/a> with the national federation of Afghanistan.<\/p>\n<p>The meet was almost history-making for India\u2019s delegation. <strong>Srihari Nataraj<\/strong> won the men\u2019s 100 backstroke in 54.07, just .22 seconds away from the Olympic A cut in the event. It\u2019s a personal-best for Nataraj, cutting .62 off his previous best. (He went 54.10 in prelims.) The 20-year-old Nataraj is seeking <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/sport\/other-sports\/uzbekistan-open-srihari-wins-but-falls-short-of-a-mark-olympic-qualifying-time\/article34329934.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">to become the first Indian to achieve an A cut<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have all been super excited with Srihari&#8217;s time,\u201d the Swimming Federation of India said in a statement. \u201c54.10 seconds was Atlanta Olympics gold medal time and this time would have also fetched him a bronze at Asian Games 2018.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nataraj won <a href=\"https:\/\/scroll.in\/field\/992605\/swimming-srihari-nataraj-creates-third-national-record-in-two-days-wins-gold-at-uzbekistan-open\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">three events at the meet<\/a>, adding the 50 back in 25.11. Prakash later won the 200 free and 200 fly. The latter left him short of the A cut <a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/sports\/more-sports\/others\/swimmer-sajan-prakash-bags-gold-but-misses-out-on-olympic-a-cut\/articleshow\/82053237.cms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">with a B cut<\/a> of 1:57.85. The auto qualifying time is 1:56.48. Prakash also won the 100 fly. Prakash was the only male Indian swimmer at the 2016 Olympics.<\/p>\n<p>For the meet, Indian swimmers won 18 gold medals and 29 total medals.<\/p>\n<p>In the final day of competition Saturday, Uzbek swimmers <strong>Adilbek Yusupbaev<\/strong> and <strong>Eldor Usmonov<\/strong> reportedly hit A cuts in the 100 fly in prelims, <a href=\"https:\/\/ru.aquatics.uz\/poslednie-novosti\/post\/chempionat-uzbekistana-po-plavaniyu-zakrytie\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according to the Uzbekistan Swimming Federation&#8217;s recap of events<\/a>. Yusupbaev went 51.71, with Usomonov at 51.83. However, Prakash won finals in a significantly slower time of 53.69, according to the Press Trust of India&#8217;s reporting.<\/p>\n<p>Yusupbaev <a href=\"https:\/\/www.omegatiming.com\/File\/0001130110FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF22.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">swam five events at the<\/a> 2019 World Junior Championships, however the 100 fly was not one of them, so a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.myswimresults.com.au\/DashBoard.aspx?ID=534980\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">previous best time<\/a> is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimcloud.com\/swimmer\/1158328\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">not available<\/a>.
