{"id":469971,"date":"2021-04-17T20:34:20","date_gmt":"2021-04-18T03:34:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=469971"},"modified":"2021-04-17T20:34:20","modified_gmt":"2021-04-18T03:34:20","slug":"cstes-david-abrahams-sets-american-record-in-mens-sb-13-100-breaststroke","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/cstes-david-abrahams-sets-american-record-in-mens-sb-13-100-breaststroke\/","title":{"rendered":"CSTE\u2019s David Abrahams Sets American Record in Men\u2019s SB-13 100 Breaststroke"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>David Abrahams<\/strong> set an American Para Swimming record in the SB-13 100-meter breaststroke this week at the Para Swimming World Series.<\/p>\n<p>Abrahams went 1:04.14 in prelims to break the record, then sped up in finals to go 1:04.07. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paralympic.org\/swimming\/records\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The world record for SB13<\/a> was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/five-world-records-fall-from-night-four-of-world-para-swimming-championships-in-london\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">set in 2013<\/a> by <strong>Oleksii Fedyna<\/strong> at 1:03.58.<\/p>\n<p>Abrahams is a <a href=\"https:\/\/gocrimson.com\/sports\/mens-swimming-and-diving\/roster\/david-abrahams\/22376\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sophomore at Harvard<\/a>. He was <a href=\"https:\/\/gocrimson.com\/news\/2021\/3\/2\/mens-swimming-and-diving-david-abrahams-designated-elite-by-us-olympic-and-paralympic-committee.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">added to the elite athlete list in March<\/a> as a visually impaired athlete. A native of Havertown, Pennsylvania, Abrahams is training at Coronado Swim Association-Team Elite\u2019s College Contingency Team in San Diego after Harvard\u2019s 2020-21 season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Abrahams will be vying for his first major meet as a para swimmer at the Paralympic Trials.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very proud of all the hard work Abrahams has displayed during his time here in Coronado\u201d Team Elite Head Coach and CSTE\u2019s Program Director <strong>Dave Marsh<\/strong> said in a press release. \u201cAbrahams has done a tremendous job staying focused, he\u2019s been making minor stroke adjustments that will pay dividends for him in June.
