There&#8217;s not much atmosphere with the crowd but I&#8217;ve got a great support team around me which makes it seem easier so it has made it really fun.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It was the first race of the week for Hopkin who moved to Marshall&#8217;s group after returning from the United States where she had found success with the University of Arkansas.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/mel-marshall-excited-about-working-with-starlet-anna-hopkin-following-turbulent-few-weeks\/\">Marshall told Swimming World in April 2020<\/a> that she was looking forward to working with the &#8220;starlet&#8221; Hopkin with another of the stable on the Tokyo team where she&#8217;ll join <strong>Adam Peaty<\/strong> and <strong>Luke Greenbank.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hopkin said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I was really happy with that. I would have liked to have gone a bit quicker but this year has been so uncertain and it has been difficult to know what form I&#8217;m in so to be that close to my best time and under the consideration time, I&#8217;m over the moon.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It has been great the last few months. It feels amazing. It\u2019s not quite the time I was hoping for, but hopefully I can progress that at the Olympics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m going to go back home, have a nice dinner, relax, put on some Benidorm (TV programme) and just chill out!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Peters was on top of the world after booking a slot to join some Bath team-mates on the plane to Tokyo whilst also nodding to his former head coach <strong>Barry Alldrick<\/strong> at <strong>Poole Swimming Club.<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWatching <strong>Kieran Bird, Brodie Williams<\/strong> and <strong>Matt Richards<\/strong> from our squad swimming so well, it was really pushing me on, inspirational.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I remember on Wednesday when Kieran did that 400m freestyle, I was jumping around the bedroom!<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Obviously I\u2019ve moved to Bath National Centre this year, that\u2019s been a great help. Wood led after the first 50 with <strong>Alicia Wilson<\/strong> going ahead on the backstroke to turn 1:00.56 to 1:01.15.<\/p>\n<p>A breaststroke leg of 36.76 propelled Wood into the lead but the pair were in a real tussle down the final 50.<\/p>\n<p>Wood stopped the clock at 2:09.23 &#8211; a new PB &#8211; with Wilson 0.38 behind in 2:09.61 as both women went comfortably within the consideration time.<\/p>\n<p>Wood &#8211; who is coached by Dave Hemmings at Loughborough &#8211; said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI was just wanting to have a fun race tonight.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I felt the pressure was off after the 200m breaststroke and I knew I was in better form than I thought I was, so I just wanted to see what I could get out of me. It was a good race with Alicia.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Wilson &#8211; who clocked a new 1.5sec PB &#8211; added:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Honestly, when I was sitting and having a nap earlier, I was just wanting to get below 2:11 \u2013 so to do that was a shock!<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s definitely hard because I don\u2019t have my team-mates here.
