Gose won the 200 freestyle at 1:56.93 ahead of\u00a0<strong>Annika Bruhn\u00a0<\/strong>(1:57.17) as they were both under the 1:57.20 Olympic standard. Germany already has a 4&#215;200 free relay qualified for Tokyo as\u00a0<strong>Leonie Kullmann\u00a0<\/strong>(1:57.64) was third and\u00a0<strong>Marie Pietruschka <\/strong>(1:58.46) was fourth.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_LtepiGPiGw?start=337\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In the men&#8217;s race,\u00a0<strong>Lukas Martens\u00a0<\/strong>got under the qualifying standard with a 1:46.41 ahead of\u00a0<strong>Jacob Heidtmann\u00a0<\/strong>(1:46.98) and\u00a0<strong>Poul Zellmann\u00a0<\/strong>(1:47.53).\u00a0<strong>Henning Muhlleitner\u00a0<\/strong>(1:48.11) finished in fourth place as those four could potentially make up Germany&#8217;s 4&#215;200 free relay come this summer.<\/p>\n<p>Texas freshman\u00a0<strong>Anna Elendt\u00a0<\/strong>added her name to contention to Germany&#8217;s Olympic roster with a win in the 100 breaststroke.<\/p>\n<p>Although Elendt did not achieve the German Olympic standard in the 100 breaststroke, she put herself in contention for the German 4&#215;100 medley relay. Elendt, who just finished her freshman year at the University of Texas in the United States, won the 100 breast at 1:07.17, off the standard of 1:07.00 set by the federation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lisa Hopink\u00a0<\/strong>won the women&#8217;s 100 butterfly with a 58.07 to also put herself for contention for a relay spot while\u00a0<strong>Laura Riedemann\u00a0<\/strong>qualified individually for the 100 back (59.85) by getting under 1:00.<\/p>\n<p>On the men&#8217;s side of things,\u00a0<strong>Ole Braunschweig\u00a0<\/strong>won the 100 back at 53.87 ahead of\u00a0<strong>Marek Ulrich\u00a0<\/strong>(53.99) and ISL star\u00a0<strong>Christian Diener\u00a0<\/strong>(54.24). Braunschweig was the only one under the Olympic standard.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fabian Schwingenschlogl<\/strong>, who is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/german-records-notched-by-fabian-schwingenschlogl-and-david-thomasberger\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">already on the Olympic team for Germany<\/a>, won the 100 breast at 59.30 ahead of\u00a0<strong>Lucas Matzerath\u00a0<\/strong>(59.42) and ISL star\u00a0<strong>Marco Koch\u00a0<\/strong>(1:00.28). Koch should have a strong 200 breast later in the meet as he was the gold medal favorite heading into Rio five years ago where he ultimately ended up in seventh.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Marius Kusch\u00a0<\/strong>won the 100 butterfly with a 51.75, under the Olympic standard, as the San Diego based swimmer won ahead of\u00a0<strong>Ramon Klenz\u00a0<\/strong>(52.82). Germany has qualified a men&#8217;s medley relay and looks to have at least one representative in each of the four 100s of strokes.<\/p>\n<p>Two of the stars ahead of Tokyo for Germany,\u00a0<strong>Sarah Kohler\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Florian Wellbrock<\/strong>, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/1500-worlds-medalist-florian-wellbrock-sarah-kohler-announce-engagement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">announced their engagement<\/a> in December, took care of business in their respective distances. Kohler won the 1500 at 15:52.20 and Wellbrock won the 800 at 7:48.12.
