{"id":469479,"date":"2021-04-13T11:17:14","date_gmt":"2021-04-13T18:17:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=469479"},"modified":"2021-04-13T11:17:14","modified_gmt":"2021-04-13T18:17:14","slug":"tim-beerman-steps-down-as-coach-of-high-school-powerhouse-st-xavier","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/tim-beerman-steps-down-as-coach-of-high-school-powerhouse-st-xavier\/","title":{"rendered":"Tim Beerman Steps Down as Coach of High School Powerhouse St. Xavier"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>St. Xavier High School head swimming and diving coach <strong>Tim Beerman<\/strong> has resigned from his role, according to reports Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The decision was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcpo.com\/sports\/high-school-sports\/st-xavier-high-school-swimming-diving-coach-tim-beerman-decides-to-step-away\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">first reported by ABC affiliate WCPO in Cincinnati<\/a>. According to St. Xavier Athletic Director <strong>Brian Reinhart<\/strong>, Beerman told him that, \u201cafter prayer and discernment, it was time to let another individual take over as the head coach.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Beerman has led the AquaBombers for six seasons, winning the Division I state title each year. The program has won 13 consecutive state titles and a record 42 boys swimming crowns.<\/p>\n<p>Beerman served <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcpo.com\/sports\/mike-dyer\/st-xavier-names-tim-beerman-as-head-swimming-and-diving-coach\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">as the interim coach in 2015-16<\/a> and was given the job full-time at season\u2019s end. He spent 13 years at Ursuline Academy, winning four state titles from 1998-2009. He also had three stints as an assistant to St. Xavier coach <strong>Jim Brower<\/strong> (1999-2003, 2009-11, 2015).<\/p>\n<p>Beerman was named the 2001 Coach of the Year by National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (NISCA).<\/p>\n<p>St. Xavier is a regular contestant for national honors as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/st-xavier-unveils-national-championship-banner\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">one of the best high school boys programs,<\/a> winning the top spot in national rankings for the seventh straight year in 2020. The AquaBombers were named the virtual high school national <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/swimming-world-presents-the-x-factor-a-closer-look-at-st-xaviers-2016-17-team\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">champions with a legendary 2017<\/a> team, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/st-xavier-swimming-diving-wins-nisca-national-dual-meet-title\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">by both Swimming World Magazine and NISCA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Tim has done a tremendous job of keeping the tradition and the excellence in our swimming and diving program,&#8221; Reinhart told WCPO. &#8220;He truly cares about the formation of our young men. He built on the tradition that was handed to him and it will be handed on to the next person.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Beerman remains at the school in campus ministry and said he\u2019s like to remain active in the program, just not as he head coach.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Tim spends a tremendous amount of time and dedication to the program and it certainly shows in the results but more importantly in our young men&#8217;s lives outside of the pool,&#8221; Reinhart said. &#8220;We thank Tim for his tireless efforts to our young men and our families.
