Smith won ahead of open water Olympian <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/after-a-long-journey-ashley-twichell-can-finally-call-herself-an-olympian\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ashley Twichell<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>(8:27.41), who is already on the team for the 10K race, and Arizona State&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Emma Nordin\u00a0<\/strong>(8:29.67), who took a redshirt this season from the NCAA year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Smith on her race:\u00a0\u201cI\u2019ve been training really well and have been getting some good work in. I wanted to go to this meet and swim faster than I did in San Antonio (at last month\u2019s TYR Pro Swim Series) so I\u2019m off to a good start. It\u2019s really nice to be racing with all my friends again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The other open water Olympian,\u00a0<strong>Haley Anderson<\/strong>, finished in fourth at 8:30.90 as the Mission Viejo Nadador is swimming in her home facility, having made the move from her long tenure at USC.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jordan Wilimovsky<\/strong>, who is also already on this summer&#8217;s Olympic team, won the men&#8217;s race at 7:54.44. Mission Viejo&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Will Gallant\u00a0<\/strong>finished in second in his home pool at 7:57.55 ahead of\u00a0<strong>Zane Grothe\u00a0<\/strong>(7:58.04).<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wilimovsky on his race:\u00a0\u201cIt was a good swim for me,\u201d Wilimovsky said. \u201cThis was only our second time really racing this season so we\u2019re just kind of seeing where we are at before we get into the next block (of training) before Trials.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wilimovsky&#8217;s swim puts him unofficially sixth in the world rankings this year led by\u00a0<strong>Mykhailo Romanchuk\u00a0<\/strong>of the Ukraine at 7:48 in early March. The men&#8217;s 800 will be making its debut to the Olympic lineup this summer in Tokyo as the American men haven&#8217;t had a medalist in the event at the World Championships
