With the COVID-19 pandemic still in effect around the world, there are several international swimming events that have been postponed or canceled, announced by FINA.<\/p>\n

The events that have been affected include diving, artistic swimming and open water swimming.<\/p>\n

In addition, on April 2, FINA announced the decision of re-allocating the FINA Olympic Qualifiers planned in Japan is under review. An announcement will be made next week.<\/p>\n

So far, here are the FINA events that have been affected by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

The FINA Diving World Cup 2021 that was scheduled for April 18-23 has been canceled. It was originally scheduled for 2020 and was postponed until this month, but has now been canceled by the pandemic.<\/p>\n

The FINA Artistic Swimming World Series 2021, Leg 4, scheduled for Paris from April 23-25 has also been canceled by the pandemic. But even bigger is the FINA Olympic Game Artistic Swimming Qualification Tournament 2021 in Tokyo, scheduled for May 1-4, which has now been canceled.<\/p>\n

Here is what was supposed to have happened in that meet:<\/p>\n

The Olympic Games Qualification Tournament 2021 to be held in Tokyo, will allocate the last available places to participate to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in the duets and team event. For the team event, the three (3) highest ranks will each obtain one (1) quota place. For the duet event remaining seven (7) quota places will be allocated to the highest placed NOCs who have not already qualified a team for the Olympic Games.<\/em><\/p>\n

Now, the protocols will change because of the cancellation of the event.<\/p>\n

In open water swimming, the FINA\/CNSG Marathon Swim World Series 2021, Leg 2, in the Seychelles, has been canceled. It was originally scheduled for May 9.<\/p>\n

Also the FINA Olympic Marathon Swim Qualifier 2021 in Fukuoka, originally scheduled for May 29-30, has been cancelled.
