That had been a case of the morning after the night before with the 21-year-old having gone third in history over 100br<\/a> behind only world record-holder\u00a0Adam Peaty<\/strong>\u00a0(56.88) and\u00a0Ilya Shymanovich<\/strong>\u00a0(58.29) when he stopped the clock at 58.37.<\/p>\n
He returned in the evening to again post a new mark in a time that has been bettered by only Peaty (25.95) and Felipe Lima<\/strong> whose best stands at 26.33.<\/p>\n
Italian breaststroke is in fine fettle with Martina Carraro posting a national 100br record of 1:05.86<\/a> during the finals session with Arianna Castiglione<\/strong> and Benedetta Pilato<\/strong> both dipping inside the previous record in 1:06.00.<\/p>\n
He told the Italian Swimming Federation:<\/p>\n
“I’m happy.\u00a0<\/span>Two records in one day is a test of competitive maturity.\u00a0<\/span>I’m fine and I know what I’m doing when I swim.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
“I’m really happy. <\/span>It is an Italian record that I take home with my heart.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
“Climbing the rankings one step at a time is another great achievement for me. <\/span>I come back from Riccione with a suitcase full of satisfactions.”<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
He added:<\/p>\n
“I wanted to come here to improve myself, it was my goal. <\/span><\/p>\n
“We have prepared this race with great attention and the result gives us even more confidence for the future.”<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
