MELBOURNE, January 4. VICTORIA'S Shayne Reese, 20, turned in a lifetime best 56.60 to win the women's 100m freestyle and highlight the action on Day 3 of the Victorian State Championships in Melbourne, Australia.<\/p>\n

Italy's Massi Rosolino won his third event of the competition, taking the 200m IM — the event in which he won gold at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Rosolino's 2:04.31 was six seconds faster than his nearest pursuer.<\/p>\n

In semifinals, Brooke Hanson turned in the fastest 100m breaststroke, 1:10.05, while Matt Welsh led all qualifiers in the 50m back and 50m fly. <\/p>\n
