﻿{"id":466913,"date":"2021-03-26T02:55:54","date_gmt":"2021-03-26T09:55:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=466913"},"modified":"2021-03-26T08:05:49","modified_gmt":"2021-03-26T15:05:49","slug":"milak-sets-hungarian-100-free-mark-of-48-00-as-gold-rush-continues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/milak-sets-hungarian-100-free-mark-of-48-00-as-gold-rush-continues\/","title":{"rendered":"Milak Sets Hungarian 100 Free Record Of 48.00 As Gold Rush Continues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Kristof Milak<\/strong> scorched to a national 100 free record of 48.00 as he continued his golden form at the <strong>Hungarian Nationals<\/strong> in Budapest before revealing his disappointment at not going 47.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/nemeth-0-03-off-hungarian-100-free-record-in-48-11-bernek-and-burian-rattle-rankings\/\">The 21-year-old had qualified second for the final with a PB of 48.89<\/a> behind <strong>Nandor Nemeth<\/strong> who had come within 0.03 off his Hungarian record in 48.11 in Thursday evening&#8217;s heats at the<strong> Duna Arena<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Come Friday morning and it was Milak who took centre stage, splitting 23.06\/24.94 to go top of the world rankings, finishing ahead of Nemeth (48.17) and <strong>Szebaszti\u00e1n Szab\u00f3<\/strong> who clocked 49.08.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/drive\/u\/0\/folders\/1xhfZNg9j5KEwk3_rd9bd52mr_XQrlmLh\">Link to results<\/a><\/p>\n<p>There was also a 111th national title for <strong>Laszlo Cseh<\/strong> with the <strong>BVSC-Zuglo<\/strong> mixed medley relay squad.<\/p>\n<p>The six-time Olympic medallist won his first national gold in 2000 &#8211; bettered only by his own world record.<\/p>\n<p>The 200 fly world champion<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/milak-splits-144-86-anchoring-4x200-free-quartet-to-hungarian-record-of-707-67\/\"> also split 1:44.86 anchoring a Hungarian 4&#215;200 quartet<\/a> to a national mark of 7:07.67 and won 50 fly silver.<\/p>\n<p>Some programme and with the 100 fly and 200 free still to come.<\/p>\n<p>While 48 won&#8217;t secure a medal in Tokyo,\u00a0Milak&#8217;s improvement from evening heats to morning finals indicates fine things await and especially so given he is unrested.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fanni Gyurinovics<\/strong> won the women&#8217;s race in 55.56.<\/p>\n<p>Milak though had some regret that he had not become the first Hungarian to go 47, telling musz.hu:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI thought I was going out in a 22.5, as I did in the relay, so compared to this 23.06 is a pretty slow start.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I was aware that my swimming speed was better than everyone.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So now I say for the first time that it was good, although&#8230;&#8230;. 48.00 &#8211; I&#8217;m a little disappointed because I wanted to swim better, I wanted to be the first Hungarian to swim 47!&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Looking forward to the 200free, he outlined his goal of replicating his relay swim. This is my second race this year, if we look at it that way, we are very early.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There will be more competitions in Stockholm and Helsinki before the European Championships, and hopefully there will be another bunch such as in Rome before the Olympics.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The goal with this meet was to get used to racing. Because of this, I could barely sleep.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The point of today was to win and of course try to enjoy the swimming a bit.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Adam Telegdy<\/strong> won the men&#8217;s race in 1:57.90 following a Thursday night heat swim of 1:57.30.<\/p>\n<p><strong>David Horvath<\/strong> won the 200br in 2:13.05 with <strong>Eszter\u00a0B\u00e9k\u00e9si<\/strong> taking the women&#8217;s title in 2:28.19.<\/p>\n<p>In the relays, Cseh swam a 52.30 butterfly leg as BVSC won the mixed medley relay in 3:57.93,\u00a0<strong>Gy\u0151ri \u00dasz\u00f3 Sportegy<\/strong> won the women&#8217;s 4x1oo free in 3:47.99 and BVSC took the men&#8217;s title in 3:20.54.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align:
