Kristof Milak<\/strong> followed up swimming the second-fastest 200 fly in history on Wednesday morning by anchoring the Hungarian 4×200 squad to a new national record of 7:07.67 with a split of 1:44.86 in Budapest<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Milak went 1:51.40 200 fly in Wednesday morning’s final<\/a> at the Hungarian Nationals<\/strong>, a time bettered only by his own world record of 1:50.73 set at the 2019 worlds which had followed 22.19 in the 50 free.<\/p>\n

In the opening event on Wednesday evening, the 21-year-old took part in a 4×200 time trial which ended with another entry in the history books.<\/p>\n

With the championships mirroring the Tokyo schedule of evening heats and morning finals, Zombori and Milak returned immediately to the water with the former heading the 400 free qualification in 3:53.76 and Milak through in eighth after clocking 3:56.65.<\/p>\n

Milak then qualified second in the 50 fly in 23.87 behind Szebasztian Szabo<\/strong> who stopped the clock at 23.42.<\/p>\n

Hungarian swimming is certainly enjoying the promise of youth at the moment that augurs well for Tokyo and beyond.<\/p>\n
Hubert Kos<\/strong> – who will turn 18 on Sunday – swam the second-fastest 200IM of 2021 when he headed the qualifiers in 1:57.58.<\/p>\n

Only world silver medallist Jeremy Desplanches<\/strong> has gone quicker this year with 1:57.50 in Marseille last weekend.<\/p>\n
Laszlo Cseh<\/strong>, winner of two Olympic medals in this event, was fifth through in 2:02.73.<\/p>\n
Olympic champion Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> was fastest in the women’s equivalent in 2:12.69.<\/p>\n
Beatrix Bordas<\/strong> headed the women’s 50 fly in 26.89, Bettina Fabian<\/strong> led the way int he 400fr in 4:10.69 ahead of European silver medallist Ajna Kesely<\/strong> (4:12.16).<\/p>\n
