The relays are all timed finals and will take place during the finals session.<\/p>\n<p>Virginia leads the meet after winning the 800 free relay on opening night of the NCAA Championships, then claiming all three individual titles on Day 2, while also taking runner-up in both relays. The Cavaliers have plenty of fire power in today\u2019s events as well.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/watch\/player\/_\/id\/55c111e9-9709-422b-84f5-7b469892b380\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Live Stream<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/swimmeetresults.tech\/NCAA-Division-I-Women-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Live Results<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/2021-ncaa-division-i-womens-swimming-and-diving-championshipss\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Complete meet coverage<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>NCAA Championships: Women\u2019s 100 Backstroke<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Wisconsin\u2019s <strong>Beata Nelson<\/strong> holds the NCAA record in 49.18, set when she won the title in 2019. After 15 years where Cal\u2019s <strong>Natalie Coughlin<\/strong> was the only swimmer under 50 seconds (49.97), Nelson, <strong>Regan Smith, Ally Howe, Kathleen Baker<\/strong> and <strong>Janet Hu<\/strong> have all been sub-50 since 2017. Cal has dominated the event with 11 titles in history, including Coughlin\u2019s four-year sweep from 2001-04.<strong> Rachel Bootsma<\/strong> won three in a four-year span from 2013-16 and <strong>Cindy Tran<\/strong> was a repeat winner. North Carolina\u2019s <strong>Sue Walsh<\/strong>, Texas\u2019 <strong>Betsy Mitchell<\/strong>, Stanford\u2019s <strong>Lea Loveless<\/strong> and Florida\u2019s <strong>Gemma<\/strong> <strong>Spofforth<\/strong> have all won three titles in the event.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In an event with several title contenders, it seemed fitting that the top seed in the 100 backstroke was a tie.
