With many athletes returning to competition after a one-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic or in heavy training, the times that registered on the scoreboard were ho-hum in nature. The best performance during Thursday night&#8217;s finals was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/tyr-pro-series-hali-flickinger-dials-up-another-207-in-200-butterfly\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hali Flickinger&#8217;s 2:07-mid effort<\/a> in the 200-meter butterfly.<\/p>\n<p>It will be interesting to see if the performances pick up as the meet rolls on, or if the competition will continue to be a feeling-out process. Here is a look at what transpired during the Day Three prelims.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 200 Freestyle<\/h3>\n<p>Coming off victories in the 400 freestyle and 1500 freestyle during the first two days of the meet, <strong>Katie Ledecky<\/strong> put herself in position add a third win to her collection as she maneuvered through the prelims of the 200 freestyle in 1:57.09. Meanwhile, four-time Olympian <strong>Ryan Lochte<\/strong>, the 36-year-old seeking a trip to the Tokyo Games, also advanced to the final in 1:50.72, an effort that was good for the fifth seed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jorge Iga<\/strong> was the second-fastest man in prelims, going 1:50.13, and <strong>Marwan El Kamash<\/strong> went 1:50.59 for the third seed. Murphy was on cruise control and registered an effort of 1:59.34, which was more than a second clear of the 2:00.69 put up by <strong>Alex Gliese<\/strong>. Also advancing to the final were <strong>Ally McHugh<\/strong>, <strong>Katie Grimes<\/strong> and <strong>Brooke Forde<\/strong>. They will be joined in the push for the title by <strong>Chase Kalisz<\/strong>, a former world champion whose 4:24.54 was slightly quicker than the 4:24.59 of Germany&#8217;s <strong>Jacob Heidtmann<\/strong>.
