{"id":463803,"date":"2021-03-01T11:41:36","date_gmt":"2021-03-01T18:41:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=463803"},"modified":"2021-03-01T11:41:36","modified_gmt":"2021-03-01T18:41:36","slug":"ymca-swimming-festival-to-take-place-at-local-ymcas-in-place-of-cancelled-nationals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ymca-swimming-festival-to-take-place-at-local-ymcas-in-place-of-cancelled-nationals\/","title":{"rendered":"YMCA Swimming Festival to Take Place at Local YMCAs in Place of Cancelled Nationals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Without the YMCA national championship this year, local YMCA coaches and volunteers are putting together a YMCA Swimming Festival.<\/p>\n<p>The national championship was cancelled as a result of the\u00a0COVID-19\u00a0pandemic\u2019s convening restrictions and safety considerations\u00a0for\u00a0athletes.<\/p>\n<p>The YMCA Swimming Festival is a spring competitive opportunity for YMCA swimmers who have achieved 2020 Short Course YMCA National Championship time standards.<\/p>\n<p>This competition is organized and conducted\u00a0entirely\u00a0by local YMCAs and is not sponsored, organized, or conducted by the YMCA of the USA.<\/p>\n<p>Competitions may be held locally or regionally based on existing CDC or state health and safety regulations. Results will be compiled for national rankings and awards through SwimCloud.\u00a0\u00a0All competition to be completed by April 11, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Regional meets will rake place at Greensboro, North Carolina; Oxford, Ohio; Vorhees, New Jersey; York, Pennsylvania and Brown Deer, Wisconsin.<\/p>\n<p>In conjunction with this competitive opportunity, a virtual celebration will be held upon the conclusion of competition and will include special features such as athlete-led devotions, senior recognition and Leader Board announcements.<\/p>\n<p>Rules of eligibility for the YMCA Swimming Festival. More information <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamunify.com\/team\/ymca-4598\/page\/swim-team\/2021-y-swimming-festival\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Age Up Date<\/strong>:\u00a0 First day of your meet or of the meet you are attending<\/li>\n<li><strong>Qualification Period<\/strong>:\u00a0 March 1, 2019 through the entry deadline<\/li>\n<li><strong>Event Limit<\/strong>:\u00a0Up to four individual events (1000 free is not offered)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Eligibility<\/strong>:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><u>YMCA Membership<\/u><\/strong>:\u00a0An athlete must be a YMCA member in good standing who holds an annual, full privilege membership at the YMCA he\/she represents for a period of at least 90\u00a0days prior to the first day of the meet.
