Both schools \u2013 <strong>Daniel Forndal<\/strong> of SMU and <strong>Michael Balcerak<\/strong> \u2013 had swimmers deemed Most Outstanding by the conference.<\/p>\n<h4>AAC Championships<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/2021-american-athletic-conference-championship-results\/ncaa-college\/2021\/February\/25?rtn=%2Fresults%2Fall\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Full Results<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Women<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1. University of Houston 1009<\/li>\n<li>2. Southern Methodist University 753.5<\/li>\n<li>3. University of Cincinnati 732.5<\/li>\n<li>4. Tulane University 617<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Men<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1. Southern Methodist University 1304<\/li>\n<li>2. University of Cincinnati 1089<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On the four-team women\u2019s side, Houston swept all five relays <a href=\"http:\/\/theamerican.org\/news\/2021\/2\/25\/swimming-diving-smu-men-houston-women-out-of-the-gate-strong-after-day-one-of-2021-american-swim-and-dive-championships.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">in a dominant performance<\/a>. Sacha won the 100 backstroke, 200 back and 200 individual medley, repeating as champion in both. She also led off both winning medley relays, including the 400 that set a meet record. Also on those two relays was <strong>Katie Higgins,<\/strong> winner of the 100 butterfly.<\/p>\n<p>Leehy dominated freestyle, repeating as champion in the 50, 100 and 200. She anchored the 400 medley and 800 free relays and swam on the 200 free relay. <strong>Laura Garcia Marin<\/strong> swam on two winning relays to go with a pair of runner-up individual finishes. <strong>Kathryn Power<\/strong> was also on three winning relays to go with three top-three finishes (second in the 100 free, second in the 50 and third in the 100 back).<\/p>\n<p>Cincinnati got a pair of wins from <strong>Matea Sumajstorcic<\/strong> in the 500 and 1,650.<\/p>\n<p>Tulane\u2019s <strong>Kate McDonald<\/strong> won a pair of individual crowns, capturing the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke.<\/p>\n<p>SMU got a win from <strong>Olivia Grossklaus,<\/strong> who repeated as 200 fly champion.<\/p>\n<p>On the men\u2019s side, the SMU men had fun rewriting the <a href=\"https:\/\/smumustangs.com\/news\/2021\/2\/27\/mens-swimming-diving-mens-swimming-and-diving-wins-2021-aac-championships.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">relay record books<\/a>. They set pool records in the 400 medley (Forndal,<strong> Riley Hill, Caleb Rhodenbaugh<\/strong> and <strong>Jack Easton<\/strong> in 3:09.84), 800 free (<strong>Colin Feehery,<\/strong> Forndal, <strong>Tyler Mansheim<\/strong> and <strong>Wyatt Cronk<\/strong> in 6:25.50) and 400 free (<strong>Justin Baker,<\/strong> Forndal, <strong>Lance Butler <\/strong>and <strong>Charlie Kaye<\/strong> in 2:53.50).<\/p>\n<p>Forndal won the 100 and 200 free and was the runner-up to Baker in the 50. Rhodenbaugh won the 200 breast in a pool\/meet record of 1:53.98. It was his second triumph, to go with the 100 breast crown, in a pool record 53.23. Feehery won the 200 IM <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/colin-feehery-breaks-american-athletic-conference-record-in-200-im\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">in a meet record<\/a>, won the 400 IM and was third in the 200 breast.<\/p>\n<p>SMU swept the podium in all three diving events. <strong>Peter Smithson<\/strong> won three-meter and platform, with <strong>Parker Hardigree,<\/strong> winner of the one-meter, second.<\/p>\n<p>Cincinnati nabbed an AAC Championships record in the 200 medley relay, with <strong>Blake Hanna, Dominic Polling,<\/strong> Balcerak and <strong>Hunter Gubeno<\/strong> going 1:25.54. Balcerak was the standout, winning the 500 free, 100 fly and 200 fly.
