The 2021 Big Ten Women\u2019s Championships continued on Thursday with the Day 3 finals from Minneapolis.<\/p>\n

The events are the 100 butterfly, 400 IM and 200 free and 3-meter diving finals.<\/p>\n

Michigan placed a league-best six in the finals for tonight\u2019s session as the Wolverines try to catch Ohio State, which built an early lead. The Wolverines had a good day, led by Maggie MacNeil <\/strong>winning the 100 butterfly,<\/strong> but still trail.<\/p>\n

Big Ten Women\u2019s 100 Butterfly<\/strong><\/p>\n
Michigan completed its 1-2 finish, after taking the top two seeds during prelims.<\/p>\n
Junior Maggie MacNeil t<\/strong>ouched the wall in 49.68, a quarter of a second off of her own Big Ten meet record set last year and an NCAA “A” cut.<\/p>\n
MacNeil went 1-2 with teammate Olivia Carter<\/strong>, another junior, who finished in 51.54, a “B” cut.<\/p>\n
A pair of Northwestern swimmers followed as Madeline Smith<\/strong> took third in 52.09 and Miriam Guevera<\/strong> was fourth in 52.24.<\/p>\n
Ohio State freshman Katherine Zenick<\/strong> finished fifth in 52.73, followed by Iowa sophomore Mallory Jump<\/strong> (52.81) and Indiana freshman Elizabeth Broshears<\/strong> (52.81), who tied for sixth, ahead of Iowa senior Kelsey Drake<\/strong> (53.21) in eighth.<\/p>\n

Big Ten Women\u2019s 400 IM<\/strong><\/p>\n
It was a freshman who had the top seed from the morning, but the seniors had something to say about it during finals.<\/p>\n
Ohio State senior Kristen Romano<\/strong> won the 400 IM in 4:06.75, an NCAA \u201cB\u201d cut. She finished just ahead of teammate and fellow senior Katherine Trace<\/strong>, who finished second in 4:07.90.<\/p>\n
Indiana senior Josephine Grote<\/strong> was third in 4:07.99.<\/p>\n
Michigan freshman Katherine Ackerman<\/strong> had the top seed from the morning, dropped a half second and finished fourth in 4:08.37. Michigan teammate Victoria Kwan<\/strong> moved up to fifth (4:09.73), dropping three seconds from her prelim time.<\/p>\n
Indiana junior Mackenzie Looze<\/strong> was sixth (4:12.13), followed by Minnesota freshman Megan Van Berkom<\/strong> (4:13.19) and fellow Gopher Kelli McCarthy<\/strong> (4:16.43).<\/p>\n

Nebraska senior Autumn Haebig<\/strong> hung on to her top seed and won the 200 free, finishing in 1:44.39, an NCAA \u201cB\u201d cut a half second ahead of the field.<\/p>\n
Indiana freshman Ella Ristic<\/strong> was second in 1:44.89 to hold off Wisconsin junior Lillie Hosack<\/strong> (1:45.42).<\/p>\n
Michigan\u2019s Megan Glass<\/strong> was fourth (1:45.95), followed by Northwestern\u2019s Ally Larson<\/strong> (1:46.22), Ohio State\u2019s Amy<\/strong> Fulmer<\/strong> (1:46.24), Northwestern\u2019s Selena Ozbilen<\/strong> (1:47.04) and Michigan\u2019s Sophie Housey<\/strong> (1:47.07).<\/p>\n
