Nonetheless, the athletes brought speed to the pool, which is an expected theme from the Pac-12. Arizona, on the strength of diving, sits first in the team standings, which should start to take form during the second day of action.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a look at how the first two events &#8211; both relays &#8211; unfolded on Night One.<\/p>\n<h3>Team Scores (Includes Diving)<\/h3>\n<p>Arizona &#8211; 179<\/p>\n<p>Cal &#8211; 168<\/p>\n<p>Utah &#8211; 162<\/p>\n<p>Stanford &#8211; 157<\/p>\n<p>UCLA &#8211; 142<\/p>\n<p>USC &#8211; 117<\/p>\n<p>Washington State &#8211; 94<\/p>\n<h3>800 Freestyle Relay<\/h3>\n<p>Fueled by <strong>Robin Neumann&#8217;s<\/strong> strong leadoff leg, California won the first event of the competition by clocking 6:55.99 in the 800 freestyle relay. That performance was more than two seconds clear of the 6:58.60 of Stanford, with Arizona placing third in 7:05.32.<\/p>\n<p>Neumann put the Bears in front from the start, as she went 1:43.19 for her 200 yards. Neumann was backed up by <strong>Ayla Spitz<\/strong> in 1:44.27 while <strong>Rachel Klinker<\/strong> went 1:44.56. <strong>Alicia Wilson<\/strong> handled the anchor duties for Cal and dipped under 1:44 with a split of 1:43.97. Cal was able to secure its first win of the conference meet without the services of standout <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/isabel-ivey-powers-cal-on-a-mission-into-pac-12-championships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Isabel Ivey<\/strong><\/a>, who presumably will see duty in each of the other four relays on the schedule.<\/p>\n<p>Stanford earned runnerup honors following the efforts of <strong>Allie Raab<\/strong>, <strong>Brooke Forde<\/strong>, <strong>Morgan Tankersley<\/strong> and <strong>Lauren Pitzer<\/strong>. Raab opened in 1:45.26 and was followed by Forde going 1:43.27, a positive sign for the remainder of her meet. triumph in the 400 medley relay. The Bears delivered a time of 3:26.70 to easily better the 3:30.08 of Stanford, which was also second in the 800 free relay. UCLA was third in 3:33.86.<\/p>\n<p>Cal was paced on the backstroke leg by <strong>Isabelle Stadden<\/strong>, who turned in an opening-leg split of 50.86 and set the stage for <strong>Ema Rajic<\/strong> to cover the breaststroke leg in 57.68. <strong>Isabel Ivey<\/strong> was superb on the butterfly leg, as she split 50.44 and allowed <strong>Emily Gantriis<\/strong> to bring the relay home in 47.72.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Allie Raab<\/strong> had the strongest leg for Stanford, thanks to a 58.02 split on breaststroke.<\/p>\n<pre><b> Event 3  Women 400 Yard Medley Relay<\/b>\r\n==================================================================================\r\n         NCAA: N 3:25.09  3\/15\/2017 Stanford University\r\n                          A.
