He\u2019s been at Simpson, a Division III school in Iowa, since 2013.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have enjoyed every minute of working with the staff and student-athletes at Simpson,&#8221; Caccia said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.simpsonathletics.com\/sports\/mswim\/2020-21\/releases\/20210223mzjoh4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">in a college statement<\/a>. &#8220;This department is full of wonderful, dedicated people that are passionate about the success of their student-athletes and the College as a whole. My student-athletes have exceeded my expectations in the pool while maintaining excellence in academics. I&#8217;m confident they will be successful long after they leave Simpson.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Caccia was voted into the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (NISCA) Hall of Fame in 2019. He\u2019s one of 35 coaches to win NISCA\u2019s Outstanding Service on a National Level award, the Collegiate\/Scholastic Award for National Contribution award and be inducted to the Hall.<\/p>\n<p>Caccia started <a href=\"https:\/\/www.simpsonathletics.com\/sports\/wswim\/coaches\/caccia_tom?view=bio\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">his career<\/a> in 1980 at Platteville High School in Wisconsin. He won four Wisconsin High School State Swimming Coach of the Year awards (one for the girls, three for boys) and was the National Federation of High Schools\u2019\u00a0 (NFHS) Midwest Region Coach of the Year in 2006.<\/p>\n<p>He arrived in Indianola in 2013 and helped found the school&#8217;s diving program.<\/p>\n<p>As a swimmer, he starred first at Division I Northern Illinois University before transferring to University of Wisconsin-Platteville, where he set 25 school records and was a two-time team MVP. He was inducted to the UW-Platteville Hall of Fame in 2011, and he&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/simpsons-tom-caccia-inducted-into-wisconsin-high-school-hall-of-fame\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">also a member of the Wisconsin High School Hall of Fame<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Simpson Athletics would like to extend our sincere gratitude for the years of service that coach Tom Caccia dedicated to the college and the student-athletes in his programs,&#8221; Simpson Director of Athletics <strong>Marty Bell<\/strong> said. &#8220;He was a valued colleague to all and we wish him the very best in this next chapter of his life.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tom Caccia, the head coach of Simpson College\u2019s men\u2019s and women\u2019s swimming and diving teams, announced his retirement from coach Tuesday.
