The Cavaliers benefited from a superb Night Three and will try to keep the momentum rolling during the last session of prelims.

Here is what unfolded during the Day Four prelims:

200 Backstroke

Coming off a dominant victory in the 100 backstroke from the previous night, N.C. States Katharine Berkoff put herself in position to collect a backstroke double as she clocked 1:50.82 in the 200 distance. That effort put Berkoff more than a second clear of teammate Emma Muzzy, who was timed in 1:52.23. Another Wolfpack swimmer, Kathleen Moore, grabbed the fourth position for the final, behind a swim of 1:52.87.

Alex Walsh, who has worn numerous hats for Virginia throughout the meet, qualified in the third spot on the strength of a 1:52.68 effort. Walsh already owns a conference title in the 200 individual medley and was third in the 100 breaststroke, examples of her versatility. The freshman has also played key roles on various UVA relays. The Cavaliers also advanced Reilly Tiltmann (1:53.44) to the final, as she placed just behind No. 5 qualifier Emma Atkinson of Virginia Tech, who went 1:53.04.

Event 17 Women 200 Yard Backstroke
==================================================================
Meet: @ 1:49.61  2/16/2017 Alexia Zevnik, NCSU-NC
ACC: ! 1:49.09 3/18/2017 Alexia Zevnik, NC State
American: * 1:47.16  3/10/2019 Regan Smith
NCAA: $ 1:47.24  3/21/2019 Beatta Nelson, WISC
U.S. Open: # 1:47.16  3/10/2019 Regan Smith
Pool Record: & 1:47.91  3/21/2015 Missy Franklin, CAL-PC
1:50.50  A
1:54.01  IV19 Invited to 2019 NCAA
1:57.11  B
Name           Year School               Seed    Prelims
==================================================================
=== Preliminaries ===

1 Berkoff, Kathar  SO NC State          1:50.20    1:50.82 qIV19
r:+0.59  26.15        54.00 (27.85)
1:22.26 (28.26)     1:50.82 (28.56)
2 Muzzy, Emma      JR NC State          1:53.68    1:52.23 qIV19
r:+0.81  26.29        54.24 (27.95)
1:23.10 (28.86)     1:52.23 (29.13)
3 Walsh, Alexandr  FR UVA               1:53.26    1:52.68 qIV19
r:+0.76  26.71        54.95 (28.24)
1:23.58 (28.63)     1:52.68 (29.10)
4 Moore, Kathleen  SR NC State          1:51.95    1:52.87 qIV19
r:+0.63  26.70        55.12 (28.42)
1:23.92 (28.80)     1:52.87 (28.95)
5 Atkinson, Emma   FR VT                1:54.20    1:53.04 qIV19
r:+0.75  26.57        54.67 (28.10)
1:23.55 (28.88)     1:53.04 (29.49)
6 Tiltmann, Reill  FR UVA               1:59.30    1:53.44 qIV19
r:+0.66  26.87        54.79 (27.92)
1:23.93 (29.14)     1:53.44 (29.51)
7 Stewart, Bayley JR ND 1:53.46 1:54.23 qB
r:+0.66  27.10        55.68 (28.58)
1:24.69 (29.01)     1:54.23 (29.54)
8 Salcutan, Tatia FR Louisville 1:55.36 1:54.30 qB
r:+0.72  26.76        55.55 (28.79)
1:24.83 (29.28)     1:54.30 (29.47)

100 Freestyle

Virginia put together a strong showing in the 100 freestyle, paced by Kate Douglass securing the top seed in 47.33, the only sub-48 mark of the morning.
