The 2021 SEC Women\u2019s Swimming and Diving Championship continued with Friday\u2019s Day 3 finals.<\/p>\n
The 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 free, 100 breaststroke and 100 backstroke and 400 medley relay are on the schedule.<\/p>\n
Alabama’s Rhyan White<\/strong> won both of her events on the evening, while Kentucky has a narrow team lead over Flordia heading into the final day.<\/p>\n SEC Women\u2019s 400 IM<\/strong><\/p>\n It was a huge start for Kentucky as the Wildcats went 1-2-4 in the opening event of the night.<\/p>\n Kentucky sophomore Lauren Poole<\/strong> dropped three seconds from her prelims time to won the 400 IM in 4:03.90.<\/p>\n The time was an NCAA provisional qualifier, as were the top 23 times from the meet.<\/p>\n Fellow Kentucky sophomore Gillian Davey<\/strong> finished second in 4:05.96, dropping nearly four seconds from prelims, while senior Bailey Bonnett<\/strong> took fourth in 4:07.83.<\/p>\n Tennessee senior Alexis Yager<\/strong> finished third in 4:07.75.<\/p>\n Rounding out the top eight, Arkansas senior Peyton Palsha<\/strong> took fifth (4:08.42), followed by Auburn\u2019s Hannah Ownbey<\/strong> (4:08.81), Florida\u2019s Kathleen Golding<\/strong> and teammate Vanessa Pearl<\/strong> (4:11.81).<\/p>\n SEC Women\u2019s 100 Butterfly<\/p>\n SEC Women\u2019s 100 Butterfly<\/strong><\/p>\n Alabama junior Rhyan White<\/strong> started off her double with a victory. White won the 100 butterfly in 50.94, an NCAA \u201cB\u201d cut.<\/p>\n She is the top seed in the 100 backstroke later in the evening.<\/p>\n Texas A&M senior Taylor Pike<\/strong> finished second in 51.71, just three hundredths of a second ahead of Kentucky junior Izzy<\/strong> Gati<\/strong> (51.74).<\/p>\n Tennessee junior Trude Rothrock<\/strong> was fourth (51.88), followed by Auburn\u2019s Jewels Harris<\/strong> (52.23), Tennessee\u2019s Mallory<\/strong> Beil<\/strong> (52.28), Georgia\u2019s Dakota Luther<\/strong> (52.30) and Alabama\u2019s Gracie Felner<\/strong> (52.86).<\/p>\n SEC Women\u2019s 200 Free<\/strong><\/p>\n Kentucky earned its second win of the night as junior Riley Gaines<\/strong> won the 200 freestyle. She touched the wall in 1:42.70, the first NCAA \u201cA\u201d cut of the night.<\/p>\n Georgia\u2019s Courtney Harnish<\/strong> finished second in 1:43.58, tied with Texas A&M freshman Chloe Stepanek<\/strong> (1:43.58).<\/p>\n Florida\u2019s Talia Bates<\/strong> finished fourth (1:44.05), followed by Alabama\u2019s Morgan Scott<\/strong> (1:44.32), Tennessee\u2019s Tjasa Pintar<\/strong> (1:44.64), Georgia\u2019s Maxine Parker<\/strong> (1:44.71) and Alabama\u2019s Cora Dupre<\/strong> (1:45.53).<\/p>\n SEC Women\u2019s 100 Breaststroke<\/strong><\/p>\n Georgia sophomore Zoie Hartman<\/strong> used a quick back-half to surge to the SEC title in the 100 breaststroke.<\/p>\n Hartman touched the wall in 57.40 to hold off Tennessee freshman Mona McSharry<\/strong>, who finished in 57.82.<\/p>\n Both times are NCAA \u201cA\u201d cuts.<\/p>\n Alabama\u2019s Diana Petkova<\/strong> finished third (59.16), followed by Florida\u2019s Cecilia Porter<\/strong> (59.44) as the 2-3-4 finishers in the race were all freshmen.<\/p>\n Florida senior Adrianna DeBoer<\/strong> was fifth (59.81), followed by Arkansas\u2019 Vanessa Herrmann<\/strong> (59.95), Alabama\u2019s Cat<\/strong> Wright<\/strong> (1:00.11) and Texas A&M\u2019s Kylie Powers<\/strong> (1:04.69).<\/p>\n SEC Women\u2019s 100 Backstroke<\/strong><\/p>\n Alabama\u2019s Rhyan White<\/strong> completed the double, winning the 100 backstroke after winning the 100 butterfly earlier in the night.<\/p>\n White won the 100 back in 50.36, an NCAA \u201cA\u201d cut to win the race by nearly a second.<\/p>\n Missouri senior Sarah Thompson<\/strong> was second in 51.27, followed by Kentucky\u2019s Caitlin Brooks<\/strong> (51.63) and Sophie<\/strong> Sorenson<\/strong> (52.02) and Missouri\u2019s Meredith Rees<\/strong> (52.22).<\/p>\n Georgia\u2019s Gabi Fa\u2019Amausili<\/strong> tied Kentucky\u2019s Parker Herren<\/strong> for sixth (52.92), while Arkansas\u2019 Kobie Melton<\/strong> was eighth (53.01).<\/p>\n SEC Women\u2019s 400 Medley Relay<\/strong><\/p>\n Georgia\u2019s Gabi Fa\u2019Amusili, Zoie Hartman, Courtney Harnish<\/strong> and Maxine Parker<\/strong> won the SEC title in the 400 medley relay, finishing in 3:29.41.<\/p>\n Tennessee\u2019s Kaitlin Harty, Mona McSharry, Trude Rothrock<\/strong> and Tjasa Pintar t<\/strong>ook second in 3:30.18.<\/p>\n Kentucky\u2019s Caitlin Brooks, Bailey Bonnett, Izzy Gati<\/strong> and Riley Gaines<\/strong> took third in 3:30.44.<\/p>\n The 2021 SEC Women\u2019s Swimming and Diving Championship continued with Friday\u2019s Day 3 finals.
