Virginia sophomore\u00a0Kate Douglass\u00a0<\/strong>smashed her best time in the 200 breaststroke in a time trial on Saturday at the Cavalier Invite in Charlottesville, as she swam a 2:03.93, becoming the fifth swimmer to go faster than a 2:04. The time put her fifth all-time, improving on her 20th place standing at 2:05.89 from last year’s ACCs.<\/p>\n

The time is a new school record for Douglass as she now leads the national rankings in the event, unseating Texas freshman\u00a0Anna Elendt<\/strong> at the top. Douglass also holds the top spot nationally in the 200 IM, 100 fly, and the 50 and 100 free. Last year she was entered in the 200 IM, 100 fly and 200 breast for NCAAs<\/a> and will certainly have some decisions to make when it comes to her lineup for Greensboro in 39 days. But with her versatility, she can pick any event and be a force for the national title.<\/p>\n

      Virginia senior\u00a0Paige Madden\u00a0<\/strong>also had an impressive 200 back with a 1:51.85, while\u00a0Alexis Wenger<\/strong> had a strong 100 breast at 58.62.<\/p>\n
