The Longhorns (2-0) won 14 of the 16 events during the dual meet.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2021-smu-vs-texas-ncaa-college-2021-02-05.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Results<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Texas Swimming &amp; Diving Press Release<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prior to the meet, Texas recognized nine student-athletes as part of \u2018Senior Day\u2019 ceremonies. The senior class of Luke Bowman, Alvin Jiang, Austin Katz, <strong>JohnThomas Larson<\/strong>, <strong>Parker Neri<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/sam-pomajevich-finding-solace-in-racing-during-covid-19\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Sam Pomajevich<\/strong><\/a>, <strong>Jake Sannem<\/strong>, <strong>Chris Staka<\/strong> and<strong> Jordan Windle<\/strong> have produced one NCAA Championship, a runner-up finish at the NCAA Championship and three-consecutive Big 12 Conference titles. They have combined to garner 31 All-America honors, four honorable mention All-America honors and 19 Big 12 individual or relay titles.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jordan Windle swept the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events, and junior <strong>Alex Zettle<\/strong> won the 1,000-yard freestyle while posting the third-fastest time in the nation this season (8:48.39). Three Texas seniors captured individual swimming victories on the afternoon, including <strong>Alvin Jiang<\/strong> (50-yard freestyle), <strong>Austin Katz<\/strong> (200-yard backstroke) and JohnThomas Larson (500-yard freestyle).<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Freshman <strong>Zac Van Zandt<\/strong> (200-yard freestyle), junior <strong>Drew Kibler<\/strong> (100-yard backstroke), freshman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/carson-foster-adjusting-well-to-new-normal-as-a-college-freshman-in-global-pandemic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Carson Foster<\/strong><\/a> (200-yard butterfly), junior <strong>Daniel Krueger<\/strong> (100-yard freestyle), junior <strong>Halvor Borgstroem<\/strong> (100-yard butterfly) and sophomore <strong>Jake Foster<\/strong> (200-yard individual medley) added individual wins. The Longhorns also swept the 200-yard medley relay and 200-yard freestyle relay events.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Meet Highlights<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>The Longhorns opened the meet by taking the top two spots in the 200-yard medley relay. The Texas \u2018A\u2019 team of Alvin Jiang, sophomore Caspar Corbeau, Chris Staka and junior Daniel Krueger claimed the win in a time of 1:25.45.<\/li>\n<li>UT swept the top four spots in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Junior Alex Zettle earned the victory (8:48.39) and was followed by sophomore Jake Foster (8:54.95) in second. Zettle\u2019s time marked the third-fastest in the nation this year, while Foster\u2019s effort is the seventh-fastest in the country.<\/li>\n<li>Freshman Zac Van Zandt captured the win in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:37.11.<\/li>\n<li>The Longhorns swept the top four places in the 100-yard backstroke. Junior Drew Kibler claimed victory in a time of 47.15 and was followed by sophomore Peter Larson (48.62), Luke Bowman (48.99) and junior Braden Vines (49.46).<\/li>\n<li>Junior Halvor Borgstroem finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke (54.43), while junior Andrew Couchon placed fourth (54.81).<\/li>\n<li>Texas claimed the top four spots in the 200-yard butterfly. Freshman Carson Foster took the win (1:43.06) and was followed by junior Andrew Koustik (1:43.61), Sam Pomajevich (1:43.81) and sophomore Ethan Harder (1:45.55).<\/li>\n<li>Alvin Jiang won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 19.48, while Caspar Corbeau placed second (19.97).<\/li>\n<li>Jordan Windle captured the 1-meter diving title with a score of 431.79, while freshman Noah Duperre finished second (391.35).<\/li>\n<li>Daniel Krueger claimed victory in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 43.42, while Chris Staka took second (43.93).<\/li>\n<li>Austin Katz earned the win in the 200-yard backstroke (1:40.89). This marked the eighth-fastest time in the nation this season. Freshman Coby Carrozza placed second (1:45.82).<\/li>\n<li>Carson Foster placed second in the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:56.56.<\/li>\n<li>Texas swept the top three spots in the 500-yard freestyle. JohnThomas Larson claimed the win in a time of 4:19.40 and was followed by Sam Pomajevich (4:28.74) and freshman Matthew Tannenberger (4:32.46).<\/li>\n<li>Halvor Borgstroem claimed the win in the 100-yard butterfly (48.49), and Braden Vines placed second (48.64).<\/li>\n<li>The Longhorns swept the top four spots in the 3-meter diving competition. Jordan Windle captured the title with a score of 450.68. Sophomore Andrew Harness placed second (421.13) and was followed by Noah Duperre (420.83) and junior Andrew Gawin-Parigini (407.33).<\/li>\n<li>Jake Foster recorded the top time in the 200-yard individual medley (1:44.50), and Caspar Corbeau registered the second-fastest time in the event (1:45.51).<\/li>\n<li>The Texas \u2018A\u2019 quartet of Peter Larson, Coby Carrozza, Ethan Harder and Andrew Couchon swam the fastest time in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:20.51).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The No. 1 University of Texas Women\u2019s Swimming and Diving team posted a 188-104 victory against SMU on Friday afternoon at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center. The Longhorns (2-0) won all 16 events during the dual meet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prior to the meet, Texas recognized four student-athletes as part of \u2018Senior Day\u2019 ceremonies. Julia Cook earned the victory in a time of 53.26 and was followed by sophomore Kelly Pash (53.84) and freshman Sydney Silver (56.66).<\/li>\n<li>Anna Elendt claimed the win in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:00.56, while junior Holly Jansen took second (1:04.25).<\/li>\n<li>Freshman Emma Sticklen earned the victory in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 1:58.32.<\/li>\n<li>Texas posted four of the top five times in the 50-yard freestyle. Sophomore Bridget Semenuk claimed the win in a time of 22.65 and was followed by sophomore Kyla Leibel (third, 23.59), Emily Reese (fourth, 23.76) and Julia Cook (23.78).<\/li>\n<li>Junior Paola Pineda won the 1-meter diving event with a score of 358.28, while freshman Bridget O\u2019Neil took second (319.05).<\/li>\n<li>Kyla Leibel won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 50.85. Grace Cooper placed third (51.22), and Olivia Bray took fourth (51.30).<\/li>\n<li>Miranda Heckman claimed the win in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:03.50, and Sydney Silver placed second (2:03.61).<\/li>\n<li>Anna Elendt posted a victory in the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:12.94, while Evie Pfeifer took second (2:17.46).<\/li>\n<li>Senior Ella Tierney claimed the win in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:01.83.<\/li>\n<li>Senior Emily Reese registered a victory in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 54.87, and Grace Cooper placed second (55.57).<\/li>\n<li>Paola Pineda won the title in the 3-meter diving event with a score of 392.33, while Bridget O\u2019Neil took second (340.65).<\/li>\n<li>Texas recorded the two fastest times in the 200-yard individual medley. Kelly Pash touched the wall in a time of 1:59.44, and Evie Pfeifer registered a time of 2:00.93.<\/li>\n<li>The quartet of Julia Cook, Grace Cooper, Bridget Semenuk and Kyla Leibel swam the fastest time in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:31.74).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>SMU Release<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 25th-ranked SMU men&#8217;s swimming and diving team went on the road to face the No. 1 team in the country in the University of Texas and was defeated on Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Mustang breaststrokers continued to shine, posting a 1-2 finish in the 100 distance with top finishers <strong>Caleb Rhodenbaugh<\/strong> (54.11) and <strong>Connor Dalbo<\/strong> (54.24) leading the charge and staying under the NCAA&#8217;s B qualifying standard.<\/p>\n<p>In the 200, Mustangs went 1-3-4, all coming in under the NCAA B cut. Rhodenbaugh (1:56.14) finished off the breaststroke sweep, while <strong>Colin Feehery<\/strong> posted a season-best 1:56.99 for third and Dalbo came in at 1:57.10 for fourth.<\/p>\n<p>Feehery also earned runner-up honors in the 200-yard freestyle with a season-best 1:37.51 and was third in the 200-yard individual medley, staying under the NCAA B standard at 1:46.51.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ryan Aroesty<\/strong> had a career day to lead the Mustangs in butterfly events. He placed third in the 100 with a personal-best time of 49.32. In the 200, his 1:46.79 topped his career mark by over three seconds and placed him fifth.<\/p>\n<p>In sprint freestyle events, <strong>Justin Baker<\/strong> (3rd, 50 free) and <strong>Daniel Forndal<\/strong> (3rd, 100 free) led SMU, while Jack Easton was the top finisher in backstroke races (3rd, 200 back).<\/p>\n<p>The Mustangs closed out the day with a second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay, narrowly getting out-touched by .08 seconds. Baker, <strong>Lance Butler<\/strong>, Forndal and <strong>Charlie Kaye<\/strong> combined for a 1:20.59 finish.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Peter Smithson<\/strong> led Mustangs divers on 1 meter with a third-place finish and a six-round 375.98. The NCAA A score was just off his personal best of 378.98 set last week. On 3 meter, <strong>Parker Hardigree<\/strong> placed fourth, with a career-best and NCAA A score of 403.58.<\/p>\n<p>The SMU women&#8217;s swimming and diving team fell to top-ranked Texas in Austin on Friday afternoon. The Mustangs collected a total of seven runner-up finishes at the event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alex Stevens<\/strong> earned back-to-back second place finishes in the 50- and 100-yard freestyles, coming in at 23.45 and 50.95, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>In the 200-yard freestyle, <strong>Jenna Watson<\/strong> registered a season-best time of 1:52.22 for second place, and <strong>Annabelle Corcoran<\/strong> (10:28.06) led two Mustangs in the top three of the 1,000 free, coming in ahead of <strong>Katie Jordan<\/strong> (10:35.10). Watson was also third in both the 200 breast and 200 IM.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Olivia Grossklaus<\/strong>, who holds an NCAA B cut in the 200 fly, was the Mustangs&#8217; highest finisher in the event, placing second in a time of 2:03.19. She also placed second in the 500 free (5:03.81), with Jordan coming in third (5:06.53).<\/p>\n<p>The Mustangs also picked up third placed finishes from Maddy Lewis in the 100 breast and <strong>Madison Kinsey<\/strong> in the 100 fly, as well as <strong>Gabi Grobler<\/strong> in the 200 back.<\/p>\n<p>The event closed with a second placed finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay from <strong>Johanna Gudmundsdottir<\/strong>, Stevens, <strong>Indra Vandenbussche<\/strong> and <strong>Sam Smith<\/strong>.
