{"id":459745,"date":"2021-01-16T17:19:54","date_gmt":"2021-01-17T00:19:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=459745"},"modified":"2021-01-16T17:19:54","modified_gmt":"2021-01-17T00:19:54","slug":"utah-breaks-three-pool-records-in-victory-at-washington-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/utah-breaks-three-pool-records-in-victory-at-washington-state\/","title":{"rendered":"Utah Breaks Three Pool Records in Victory at Washington State"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Utah\u2019s women\u2019s swimming team set two Gibb Pool relay records and got another pool mark via <strong>Emma Broome<\/strong> in the 100 backstroke in a 140-118 Pac-12 win over Washington State <a href=\"https:\/\/wsucougars.com\/news\/2021\/1\/15\/swimming-cougars-battle-utah-chloe-larson-sets-gibb-pool-record.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Friday night<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Broome and Washington State sprinter <strong>Chloe Larson<\/strong> each set individual pool marks in a very quick meet.<\/p>\n<p>Utah bookended the triumph with relay records. The 200 medley squad of Broome, <strong>Sadie Edwards, Emma Lawless <\/strong>and <strong>Maddie Woznick<\/strong> clocked in at 1:41.20. Woznick led off the 400 free relay with <strong>Kayla Miller,<\/strong> Lawless and <strong>Audrey Reimer,<\/strong> tallying a 3:24.33 that downed the mark set by UCLA in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Broome pulled away in the final 50 from her teammate Reimer to win the 100 back in 54.37 seconds. That undercuts the 54.51 set by Wazzu\u2019s <strong>Emily Cook<\/strong> in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Lawless won the 100 butterfly for Utah. <strong>Sara McClendon<\/strong> led a 1-2 in the 1,000 free, Reimer won the 200 back and <strong>Charity Pittard<\/strong> took home top honors in the 100 breast for the Utes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Just so proud of the girls and the way they competed tonight&#8221; Utah head coach <strong>Joe Dykstra<\/strong> said <a href=\"https:\/\/utahutes.com\/news\/2021\/1\/15\/womens-swimming-diving-utah-women-break-three-gibb-pool-records-beat-washington-state.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">in a team statement<\/a>. &#8220;We came up here and raced with a shorthanded roster, traveled all day right before the meet, but still managed to put up a few best times and broke three WSU pool records. I couldn&#8217;t be prouder of the resiliency of this group.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Washington State\u2019s Larson won the 50 and 100 free. The time in the former, 22.70 seconds, set a Gibb Pool record, downing the mark set by Stanford and Canadian Olympian <strong>Taylor Ruck<\/strong> in 2018 at 23.04 seconds.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nhbJ0m53eFU\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Larson went 50.21 in the 100 free, just off the pool mark of 49.92 set in 2016 by USC\u2019s <strong>Anika Apostalon.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Michee Van Rooyen<\/strong> won the 200 and 500 free for Washington State. <strong>Kiana Swain<\/strong> (200 butterfly), <strong>Mackenzie Duarte<\/strong> (200 breaststroke) and <strong>Taylor McCoy<\/strong> (200 individual medley) added wins for the
