The events on Friday are the 200 free, 100 backstroke, 100 butterfly and 400 IM.<\/p>\n<p>Finals will begin at 7 p.m. EST and San Antonio finals will be on Olympic Channel.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2021-tyr-pro-swim-series-january-day-2-heats-day-2-usa-senior-national-2021-01-15.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">COMBINED RESULTS<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2021-tyr-pro-swim-series-200-freestyle-depth-showing-out-for-american-women-in-prelims\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Women&#8217;s prelims<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here is a look at the men&#8217;s prelim session:<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYR Pro Swim Series: Men\u2019s 200 Free<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In San Antonio, a stacked field made for a big-name session. It also meant some of the big names were not going to make the top eight.<\/p>\n<p>Florida\u2019s <strong>Kieran Smith t<\/strong>ook the top spot in the 200 free, finishing in 1:48.46, the only swimmer in the field to break 1:50 in the morning.<\/p>\n<p>Texas swimmers took the 2-3-5 seeds, led by <strong>Carson Foster<\/strong> (1:50.32), <strong>Drew Kibler<\/strong> (1:50.71) and <strong>Jake Foster<\/strong> (1:51.71).<\/p>\n<p>Former Cal NCAA champion <strong>Andrew Seliskar<\/strong> took the fourth seed in 1:50.75.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mitch D\u2019Arrigo<\/strong> (1:51.73), <strong>Zane Grothe<\/strong> (1:51.77) and <strong>Townley Haas<\/strong> (1:51.13) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n<p>That left well-known swimmers <strong>Jay Litherland<\/strong> (1:52.38),<strong> Zach Apple<\/strong> (1:53.19), <strong>Dean Farris<\/strong> (1:53.48) and <strong>Maxime<\/strong> <strong>Rooney<\/strong> (1:53.85) \u2014 and several others \u2014 outside the top eight.<\/p>\n<p>In Richmond, <strong>Jeff Newkirk<\/strong> had the top time in 1:52.52.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYR Pro Swim Series: Men\u2019s 100 Breaststroke<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Cody Miller<\/strong> made a strong 2021 debut with a 1:01.20 in the 100 breast to take the top seed.<\/p>\n<p>Athens Bulldogs\u2019 <strong>Nick Fink<\/strong> (1:01.22) and <strong>Andrew Wilson<\/strong> (1:01.79) took the second and third seeds, respectively.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Will Licon<\/strong> took the fourth seed (1:01.81), followed by <strong>Kevin Cordes<\/strong> (1:01.88), <strong>Tommy Cope<\/strong> (1:02.41), <strong>Ian Finnerty<\/strong> (1:02.87) and <strong>Ben Cono<\/strong> (1:03.43).<\/p>\n<p>In Richmond, <strong>Arsenio Bustos<\/strong> had the top time in 1:03.54.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYR Pro Swim Series: Men\u2019s 100 Butterfly<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Texas A&amp;M\u2019s <strong>Shaine Casas<\/strong> was the lone swimmer to break 52 seconds in the 100 butterfly during prelims, touching the wall in 51.91 to take the top seed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Danny Kovac<\/strong> took the second seed in 53.23, followed by Club Wolverine\u2019s <strong>Miles Smachlo<\/strong> (53.31).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Andrew Seliskar<\/strong>, doing a double, took the fourth seed in 53.60 ahead of fellow former Cal stars<strong> Tom Shields<\/strong> (53.75) and <strong>Ryan Murphy<\/strong> (53.83).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ryan Held<\/strong> took the seventh seed (53.98) ahead of<strong> Zach Harting<\/strong> (54.04). <strong>Maxime Rooney<\/strong>, also doing a double, took the ninth spot at 54.49.<\/p>\n<p>In Richmond, <strong>Aiden Hayes<\/strong> had the top time in 52.92, just ahead of <strong>Coleman Stewart<\/strong> (52.93).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYR Pro Swim Series: Men\u2019s 400 IM<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Just seven swimmers competed in the 400 IM in San Antonio.<\/p>\n<p>Athens Bulldogs\u2019 <strong>Chase Kalisz<\/strong> took the top seed in 4:24.72.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jake Foster<\/strong>, pulling a double, took the second seed in 4:27.88, ahead of Texas\u2019 <strong>David Johnston<\/strong> (4:29.47).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alexander Gusev<\/strong> took the fourth seed (4:29.88), followed by <strong>Jay Litherland<\/strong> (4:30.22), Club Wolverine\u2019s <strong>Charlie<\/strong> <strong>Swanson<\/strong> (4:32.80) and <strong>Braden Vines<\/strong> (4:44.43).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Carson Foster<\/strong> scratched the event.<\/p>\n<p>In Richmond, <strong>Joshua Parent<\/strong> had the top time in 4:27.06.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After a day of distance events, the TYR Pro Swim Series continued on Friday morning with its first prelims session from San Antonio and Richmond.
