NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>The University of Notre Dame has snagged their seventh early verbal commitment for the fall of 2022 from Olympic Trials qualifier Tommy Janton <\/strong>of Kennett Square, Pa.<\/p>\n

He will join\u00a0Ryan Malicki<\/strong>,<\/a>\u00a0Marcus Reyes-Gentry<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Michael Flynn<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Dillon Edge<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Jack Anderson<\/b><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Tate Bacon<\/b><\/a>\u00a0as a member of the Fighting Irish\u2019s Class of 2026.<\/p>\n

He told\u00a0Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n

“As a student athlete growing up, I couldn\u2019t think of any other school more than Notre Dame that I wanted to attend for my swimming and academic careers. I’m happy to announce my commitment to Notre Dame!! Thank you to all of my friends, teammates and most importantly my coaches for encouraging me along the way. I am grateful for the relentless efforts and goal orienting they provided on my behalf. A very special thanks to my family, especially my dad, for all the help, support and guidance during this journey. I look forward to doing my part for the Fighting Irish!! Go Irish!!”<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

A talented backstroker and butterflyer, Janton does his club swimming with the Western YMCA Wahoos and most recently earned eight best times at the 18&U Winter Championships last month. He punched his ticket to Omaha at the U.S. Open in November and raced four events at YMCA SCY Nationals in April 2019.<\/p>\n

In Summer 2019, he had a stellar showing at YMCA LCM Nationals where he achieved four lifetime bests and registered three top-20 finishes.<\/p>\n
