NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>Northeastern University has picked up their second early verbal commitment for the fall of 2022 from Junior National qualifier Marcela Scaramuzza<\/strong> of Windermere, Fla.<\/p>\n

She will join Novi, Mich. native\u00a0Kotoko Blair<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>as a member of the Huskies’ Class of 2026.<\/p>\n

She told\u00a0Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n

“I\u2019m thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic career at Northeastern university! I would like to thank my family for the unconditional love and support throughout my career, Coach Rocco Aceto for transforming my swimming and making me fall back in love with this sport, Coach Alex Dehner for guiding me through the past high school seasons, my friends and teammates for every ounce of support, and lastly I would like to thank Coach Roy and Coach Ryan for the unreal opportunity to swim for them! Go Huskies! \ufe0f?”<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Scaramuzza, who does her club swimming with Trinity Prep Aquatics, last competed at the CAT Florida Virtual Championships where she earned three best times after sprinting to 13th place in the 50m free at the Florida OT Qualifier back in February. She raced three events at Juniors East in 2019 and had a strong showing at Greensboro Futures in Summer 2019.<\/p>\n

Currently a junior at Windermere Prep, Scaramuzza is a six-time individual Florida 1A State Championship finalist. She won the 100 breast and placed fourth in the 100 fly as a junior while taking second and third, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.<\/p>\n
