NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>Sprinter\u00a0Korbin Vera\u00a0<\/strong>of Bellingham, Wash. will head to the East Coast this fall to attend New York University as a member of the Bobcats’ Class of 2025.<\/p>\n

He has been accepted into NYU’s Tandon School of Engineering, the prestigious and second-oldest private engineering and technology school in the U.S.<\/p>\n

He told\u00a0Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI am so incredibly excited to be attending NYU Tandon for engineering. I am thrilled to continue my swimming career at my dream school in my dream city!\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Vera, who does his club swimming with Bellingham Bay Swim Team, last competed at the Washington Open in January 2020 after recording five best times at Pacific Northwest Seniors in December. In Summer 2019, he had a strong showing at Mount Hood Sectionals before going on to place 11th in the 100m back and 18th in the 50m free at Pacific Northwest LCM Seniors.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

  • 50 Free: 21.01<\/li>\n
  • 100 Free: 47.23<\/li>\n
  • 100 Back: 52.47<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Also competing for Bellingham High School, Vera\u00a0was the runner-up in the 50 free and placed fourth in the 100 back as a sophomore at the Washington 2A State Championships. During his freshman season, he finished fourth in the 100 back and ninth in the 50 free at the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section meet while representing Rocklin High School.<\/p>\n

    Vera will add valuable sprint depth both individually and on relays when he arrives in the Big Apple at the start of the 2021-22 season. He would’ve scored in the B-final of the 50 free at the 2020 University Athletic Association Championships where NYU was the team runner-up.<\/p>\n
