Adam Peaty<\/strong> and Freya Anderson<\/strong> are among swimmers selected to the Swim England National Performance Squad in order to cultivate an England Swimming Team identity and galvanise interest ahead of the 2022 Commonwealth Games<\/strong> in Birmingham<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Peaty, the Olympic 100br champion, and Anderson will be joined by the likes of\u00a0 para swimmer Maisie Summers-Newton<\/strong>, the European SM6 200IM champion and world-record holder, with England’s elite athletes on the British Swimming World Class Programme being included in the squad for the first time.<\/p>\n

According to a press release from Swim England, “they will be among the swimmers selected for a \u2018larger-than-normal\u2019 National Performance Squad which aims to bring together everyone who will be considered for selection for Team England at the Commonwealth Games.”<\/p>\n

All the athletes on the World Class Programme will still be managed by British Swimming but, in the run-up to the Games, will be involved in England Swimming Team camps.<\/p>\n

The swimmers selected for the National Performance Squad will also attend a number of other Swim England-run camps and have individual training plans.<\/p>\n
