Winter is the busiest of the traditional three seasons in prep sports.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/category\/high-school\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">More high school news<\/a><\/p>\n<p>On Monday, the private-school Interscholastic League of Honolulu announced the cancellation of five winter sports, but would also move forward with remaining sports with COVID-19 protocols, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaiiprepworld.com\/featured\/oia-makes-it-official-all-winter-sports-cancelled\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according to Hawaii Prep World<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"Article-paragraph\">\n<div>\u201cOur intent for cancelling the first set of state tournaments was to allow our member schools the opportunity to participate in a longer league season, rather than a truncated one with regional and state tournament play for only a limited number of schools,\u201d <span id=\"0.7776270740509785\" class=\"highlight\">HHSAA<\/span>\u00a0Executive Director <strong>Chris Chun <\/strong>told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kitv.com\/story\/43120493\/hhsaa-cancels-a-number-of-2021-state-championships\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">KITV4<\/a><strong>.<\/strong> \u201cAlthough the state tournaments are cancelled, leagues are not restricted in conducting their seasons if it is deemed safe to do so. We will continue to work with the Department of Health and government officials for the possibility to hold state tournaments for the remaining sports in late May.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"Article-paragraph\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"Article-paragraph\">\n<div>The remaining sports scheduled March-May by the Hawaii High School Athletic Association include water polo as well as baseball, football, golf, judo, softball tennis, track and field and volleyball.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The high school swimming and diving season in Hawaii has been canceled.
