SALT LAKE CITY, Dec. 7. THE Utah men\u2019s team won their first conference meet in four years by beating UNLV 180-116, improving their record to 4-4 (1-1 in conference). The women lost to the Rebels 167-131, dropping their record to 6-4 (2-1 in conference).<\/p>\n
The Utah men won 12 of 16 events and were led by Jonathan Larsen who won four events. Larsen won the 50 and 100 free, and contributed legs to the 400 free and 200 medley relays. Larsen\u2019s time of 44.44 in the 100 free was a provisional qualifier for the NCAA tournament in March in Austin, Texas. <\/p>\n
David Fleisch was a three-event winner with victories in the 100 back (50.80), 200 back (1:50.09), and the 200 IM (1:51.94). Evan Castro won both breaststroke events against the Rebels as well.<\/p>\n
On the women\u2019s side, Utah's Kristen Kaiser was a two-event winner with victories in the 1000 free (10:06.41) and the 500 free (4:56.82). Tessa Greegor provisionally qualified for the NCAA tournament in March at Auburn University with her time in the 100 breast (1:03.39).<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had a great meet against UNLV,\u201d commented Head Coach Michael Litzinger. \u201cI\u2019m proud of the men\u2019s team; we have turned the corner and posted some of the top scores in the conference.
