In the early 1970s, Palmer and Shore Aquatic joined forces with the Scarlet Jets, coached by two-time Olympic coach <strong>Frank Elm,<\/strong> under one banner as the Central Jersey Aquatic Club. Palmer led the combined effort until 1988.<\/p>\n<p>Among Palmer\u2019s pupils were 1976 American Olympians <strong>Wendy Boglioli<\/strong><strong>,<\/strong> as well as <strong>Cathy Corcione <\/strong>(1968 Olympics). South African sprinter <strong>Jonty Skinner<\/strong> also trained at CJAC ahead of setting the world record in the 100 freestyle <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/when-jim-and-jonty-chased-sub-50-a-unique-summer-pursuit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">at the 1976 AAU Championships in Philadelphia<\/a>. That year, CJAC won the women\u2019s and the combined titles <a href=\"https:\/\/www.centraljerseyaquaticclub.com\/club-history\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">at nationals<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Boglioli, who like Palmer graduated from Monmouth College, won gold in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/1976-us400-free-relay-last-gold-victory-over-eaa-womens-st-germans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the legendary 400 free relay<\/a> at the Montreal Olympics, the only American gold medal in the face of the East German onslaught of that year. Boglioli also earned bronze in the 100 butterfly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/babaschoff-sterkel-and-boglioli-welcome-duplicate-medals-mending-1976-olympic-stain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">behind two East Germans<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Corcione, who also swam at the World University Games in 1973 and was a founding member of Princeton\u2019s swim team, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.centraljerseyaquaticclub.com\/coaches\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">is now on CJAC\u2019s staff as<\/a> head age group coach. Head coach <strong>Corrina Weinkofsky,<\/strong> in place since 1988, is another of Palmer\u2019s proteges. (Their pupils include two-time Olympian <strong>Connor Jaeger<\/strong>.)<\/p>\n<p>Bill Palmer moved to Colorado in 1996, where he coached the Durango Masters Swim Team.
