A huge thank you to everyone who has helped me throughout my athletic and academy careers so far! Can\u2019t wait to be part of the lady Vols! <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"emoji\" role=\"img\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/13.0.0\/svg\/1f9e1.svg\" alt=\"?\" \/>&#8220;<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A talented butterflyer and IMer, Walshe raced the 100m fly at the 18th FINA World Championships in 2019 after winning both the 50m and 100m fly at the Irish Open Championships. She most recently competed at the McCullagh International Meet back in February, placing third in the 50m fly and fourth in the 200m fly and 400m IM.<\/p>\n<p>In January, Walshe set the Irish national record in the 100m fly with a lifetime best 59.54 to become the first female under the one-minute barrier.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In LCM, her best times include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">50m fly \u2013 27.29<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">100m fly \u2013 59.54\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">200m fly \u2013 2:14.15\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">200m IM \u2013 2:19.55\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">400m IM \u2013 4:50.78\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In SCY, those times convert to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">50 fly \u2013 24.63<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">100 fly \u2013 52.87<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">200 fly \u2013 1:59.24<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">200 IM \u2013 2:02.00<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">400 IM \u2013 4:16.54<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Walshe will make an immediate impact when she arrives in Knoxville next fall and will add her talents to a training group led by <strong>Trude Rothrock<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Mallory Beil<\/strong>. Her best times (converted to yards) are already fast enough to score in the B-final of the 100 fly and the C-final of the 200 fly\/400 IM at the conference level.<\/p>\n<p>Her fellow countrymate, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/irish-national-record-holder-mona-mcsharry-verbally-commits-to-tennessee-for-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Mona McSharry<\/strong><\/a>, is currently a freshman for the Lady Vols.
