Photo Courtesy: Swimming WA.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The men\u2019s 200m freestyle saw the <strong>Michael Palfery<\/strong>-coached Incerti (UWA-West Coast) also set a new WA Residential Record of 1:48.36, previously held by 2012 Olympian, <strong>Tommaso D\u2019Orsogna.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Distance freestyle hope <strong>Adam Sudlow<\/strong> (UWA-West Coast) finished second in 1:50.58 with 100m freestyle specialist <strong>Ashton Brinkworth<\/strong> (UWA-West Coast) third in 1:51.85).<\/p>\n<p>The day kicked off with Rio Olympic silver medallist <strong>Tamsin Cook<\/strong> (UWA-West Coast) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/australian-olympian-tamsin-cook-to-focus-on-school-retires-from-swimming\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">making her return<\/a> to competition, claiming the Open title in the women\u2019s 200m freestyle in a morning heat swim of 2:03.77.<\/p>\n<p>Cook swam the anchor-leg in Australia\u2019s silver medal-winning 4x200m freestyle relay at the 2016 Rio Games with <strong>Emma McKeon, Leah Neale<\/strong> and <strong>Bronte Barratt.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In other events:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The fastest men\u2019s 100m backstroke time of the day came from 17-year-old rising star <strong>Joshua Edwards-Smith<\/strong> (UWA West Coast) who clocked a time of 56.95.<\/li>\n<li>Commonwealth Games and World Championship Dolphin <strong>Holly Barratt <\/strong>clocked the fastest 100m backstroke in the women\u2019s events of 1:02.89 while;<\/li>\n<li>Rio Olympian <strong>Blair Evans<\/strong> (UWA West Coast) was again the standout performer in the women\u2019s 400IM, in a time of 4:47.74.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Day Two Action kicks at 9 am (AWST) on Saturday, December 19, with finals starting at 5:30 pm (AWST).
