NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>The University of New Mexico has received a new commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond from\u00a0Katy McCarter\u00a0<\/strong>of Fairbanks, Alaska.<\/p>\n

She will join Layni Andrle<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Kailey Turner<\/strong><\/a>, Taylor Murphy<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Caitlin Beery<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>as a member of the Lobos\u2019 class of 2025.<\/p>\n

She told\u00a0Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n

“Swimming for college used to be a dream. I wouldn\u2019t have even imagined swimming for a division one swim team if it weren\u2019t for my support group of coaches, family and friends.\u00a0\u00a0Now look at me, I\u2019ve signed for the university New Mexico and I can\u2019t wait to see what I can bring to the team. Go lobos! The University of New Mexico is a great location and has an amazing health department, which I plan to take advantage of to study occupational therapy. The next four years are going to be an amazing adventure.”<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

McCarter does her club swimming with Midnight Sun Swim Team and won the 50 free with five additional top-5 finishes at Alaska Seniors in January. In Summer 2019, she swam away with two gold and two silver medals at Alaska LCM Seniors.<\/p>\n
