The finish by the Foster siblings replicated the placement they posted in the 200 I.M. on Thursday night.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Carson Foster<\/strong> took a slight lead on the opening butterfly leg and gained command of the race on the backstroke leg, eventually stopping the clock in 3:38.89. The time was under the NCAA \u201cA\u201d qualifying standard, but Foster was three seconds faster last month when he set a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/carson-foster-pops-nag-record-in-400-i-m-third-fastest-time-in-history\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Age Group (17-18) record<\/a> of 3:35.27. <strong>Jake Foster\u2019s<\/strong> runnerup time was 3:41.49, and Texas watched <strong>Ethan<\/strong> <strong>Heasley<\/strong> (3:43.35) and <strong>David Johnston<\/strong> (3:43.98) also check in with strong showings.<\/p>\n<p>The Longhorns\u2019 <strong>Alvin Jiang<\/strong> had the fastest time of the evening in the 100 butterfly, despite racing in the consolation final. Jiang cracked the 45-second barrier, going 44.97, which was quicker than the 45.65 effort that <strong>Sam Pomajevich<\/strong> posted in the championship final to beat Texas teammate<strong> Zac Van Zandt<\/strong> (45.84).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jake Sannem<\/strong> finished on top in the 200 freestyle, thanks to a winning time of 1:32.98. He was followed by <strong>Coby Carrozza<\/strong> (1:33.67). <strong>Drew Kibler<\/strong> went 1:33.32 in prelims but scratched out of the final. <strong>Chris Staka<\/strong> won the 100 backstroke in 46.67, although Jiang was fastest on the day behind a 45.12 time from prelims. In the 100 breaststroke, <strong>Charlie Scheinfeld<\/strong> edged Texas teammate <strong>Andrew<\/strong> <strong>Couchon<\/strong>, 52.48 to 52.67. The 200 freestyle relay featured an \u201cA\u201d qualifying mark by the Texas foursome of Kibler (19.16), <strong>Daniel<\/strong> <strong>Krueger<\/strong>, Jiang and Sannem.<\/p>\n<p>Freshman <strong>Olivia Bray<\/strong> continued to star for the <a href=\"https:\/\/texassports.com\/sports\/womens-swimming-and-diving\/roster\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Texas women<\/a>. Bray opened the night by placing first in the 100 butterfly in 50.37 and followed by finishing second in the 100 backstroke, as her mark of 51.41 trailed only <strong>Julia Cook<\/strong> (51.14). <strong>Kelly Pash<\/strong> completed her sweep of the individual medley events when she covered the 400 I.M. in 4:06.16 and <strong>Anna Elendt<\/strong> zipped to a 58.06 clocking in the 100 breaststroke.<\/p>\n<p>In the 200 freestyle relay, the combination of <strong>Grace Cooper<\/strong>, Bray, Cook and Pash went 1:29.01. Longhorn Aquatics\u2019 <strong>Remedy Rule<\/strong> was quickest in the 200 freestyle, going 1:44.86.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Foster Brothers Sweep Top
