{"id":456212,"date":"2020-12-04T11:37:23","date_gmt":"2020-12-04T18:37:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=456212"},"modified":"2020-12-05T02:10:54","modified_gmt":"2020-12-05T09:10:54","slug":"arno-kamminga-becomes-fourth-sub-207-swimmer-in-200-breaststroke","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/arno-kamminga-becomes-fourth-sub-207-swimmer-in-200-breaststroke\/","title":{"rendered":"Arno Kamminga Becomes Fourth Sub-2:07 Swimmer in 200 Breaststroke; Toussaint Breaks Dutch Record"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Arno Kamminga Becomes Fourth Sub-2:07 Swimmer in 200 Breaststroke; Toussaint Breaks Dutch Record<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Arno Kamminga<\/strong> turned in another stellar performance at the 2020 Rotterdam Qualification Meet on Friday.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/valerie-van-roon-ousts-quarantined-femke-heemskerk-for-olympic-spot-in-50-free\/\">After setting the Dutch record in the 50 breaststroke on Thursday<\/a>, Kamminga won the 200-meter breaststroke in 2:06.85, just the fourth swimmer in history to break 2:07 in the event, breaking the Dutch record once again.<\/p>\n<p>The European short-course champion joins <strong>Anton\u00a0Chupkov<\/strong> (2:06.12), <strong>Matt Wilson<\/strong> (2:06.67) and<strong> Ippei Watanabe<\/strong> (2:06.67) as the only four swimmers to go sub-2:07.<\/p>\n<p>The 25-year-old <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/arno-kamminga-unleashes-207-17-in-200-breaststroke-to-go-sixth-all-time-in-rotterdam\/\">had served notice in the morning prelims when he went 2:07.17<\/a> to take a 0.01 sliver off his personal best from the Antwerp Diamond Race in March.<\/p>\n<p>Splits:\u00a028.81\/1:00.84\/1:33.53\/2:06.85<\/p>\n<p>Kamminga said in comments to KZNB:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt&#8217;s great here. Coming off of several strong short-course performances in the International Swimming League, Toussaint was well ahead of second-place <strong>Nina Kost<\/strong> (28.53).<\/p>\n<p>In the women\u2019s 100 butterfly, <strong>Maaike de Waard<\/strong> held off <strong>Ranomi Kromowidjojo<\/strong> to win the event. De Waard touched the wall in 58.10, just ahead of Kromowidjojo (58.38).<\/p>\n<p>Swiss swimmer <strong>Roman Mityukov<\/strong> won the 200 free in 1:47.57 ahead of <strong>Luc Kroon<\/strong> (1:47.85).<\/p>\n<p>In the women\u2019s 200 free, Belgium\u2019s <strong>Valentine Dumont<\/strong> won in 1:58.63, the only swimmer to break 2 minutes. <strong>Robin<\/strong> <strong>Neumann<\/strong> was second in 2:00.04.<\/p>\n<p>Swiss swimmer <strong>Noe Ponti<\/strong> won the men\u2019s 100 fly (51.15).<\/p>\n<p>Belgium\u2019s <strong>Fanny Lecluyse<\/strong> won the women\u2019s 200 breast (2:25.04).<\/p>\n<p>But it was the race of Arno Kamminga that stole the show on Day 2 in Rotterdam.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Advertising: Shop At Swim360<br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"https:\/\/ads.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/absolutebm.aspx?b=1546\"><\/script><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Arno Kamminga Becomes Fourth Sub-2:07 Swimmer in 200 Breaststroke; Toussaint Breaks Dutch Record Arno Kamminga turned in another stellar performance at the 2020 Rotterdam Qualification Meet on Friday.
