The African Swimming Confederation (CANA) followed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/african-swimming-confederation-to-support-husain-al-musallam-for-fina-presidency\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">endorsing him in the race<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Al-Musallam has been a member of the FINA bureau since 1996 and is the current First Vice President to <strong>Julio Maglione,<\/strong> widely seen as a favorite to replace the Uruguayan. Al-Musallam is also the Secretary General of the Kuwait Olympic Committee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI congratulate Husain Al-Musallam as the first-ever Asian nominee for FINA President and look forward to future collaborations with him for the development of aquatics worldwide,\u201d USAS President <strong>William (Bill) Smith<\/strong> said in the release.<\/p>\n<p>The statement also included a thank you to the Asian Swimming Federation\u2019s endorsement of American <strong>Dale Neuburger<\/strong> in his run for FINA Treasurer for the next term, stretching from 2021-25. Neuburger is currently a FINA Vice President, and he\u2019s been endorsed by both AASF and the Union Americana de Nataci\u00f3n (UANA), which governs swimming in North, Central and South America.<\/p>\n<p>Neuburger is a previous president of USAS, UANA and USA Swimming.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDale Neuburger has distinguished himself as the Chairman of the FINA Development Committee and Liaison to the FINA Technical Swimming Committee during his 20-year tenure with the International Federation,\u201d Smith said in the release.<\/p>\n<p>Elections for the FINA presidency and other executive positions will take place in Doha, Qatar, on June 5, 2021.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>United States Aquatic Sports (USAS) on Thursday publicly congratulated Husain Al-Musallam on his candidacy for the presidency of FINA.
