\nAuthor Joe Zemaitis usually does some international open water swims at the end of the summer, but those options weren\u2019t available because of COVID-19 restrictions. Instead, he was drawn to a location closer to home: Roosevelt Lake, the largest lake entirely within the state of Arizona.<\/p>\n

010 CAL\u2019S REECE WHITLEY NOTCHES NO. 3 TIME IN HISTORY OF 200 YARD BREASTSTROKE<\/span> <\/strong>

\nIn Cal\u2019s first competition of the season\u2014an unscored dual meet versus Stanford\u2014the Bears\u2019 Reece Whitley swam a personal best time of 1:48.53 in the 200 yard breaststroke, bettering his 1:49.85 from the 2019-20 season.<\/p>\n

012 ENERGY STANDARD GM JEAN-FRANCOIS SALESSY EXITS \u201cFAKE MOVIE,\u201d RESIGNS IN ANGRY LETTER<\/span><\/strong>

\nEnergy Standard\u2019s Jean-Francois Salessy announced via an open letter to Konstantin Grigorishin that he is stepping down as the ISL team\u2019s general manager. Salessy expressed dismay at his efforts on the business side that met with difficulty at the hands of Grigorishin, who is also the International Swimming League\u2019s founder.<\/p>\n

014 CAELEB DRESSEL PUTS TOGETHER EPIC DAY: TWO WORLD RECORDS AND AMERICAN MARK<\/span><\/strong>

\nCaeleb Dressel produced one of the greatest single-day performances the sport has ever seen in the short-course meters pool on the first day of the ISL Grand Final in Budapest. In the span of two hours, he became the first man to break the 48-second barrier in the 100 fly (47.78), added a world record of 20.16 in the 50 free and shaved 2-hundredths off his own American record in the 100 free (45.18).<\/p>\n

016 ASIA SEIDT NAMED NCAA WOMAN OF THE YEAR<\/span><\/strong>
\nAsia Seidt, the high-achieving University of Kentucky alumna swimmer, was selected from more than 600 candidates as the 2020 NCAA Woman of the Year. Seidt has earned more All-America honors, NCAA Championship podium finishes, Southeastern Conference Championship medals and All-SEC First Team selections than any UK swimmer or diver, man or woman, ever.<\/p>\n

023 ADAM PEATY BLASTS 100 BREASTSTROKE WORLD RECORD IN ISL SEMIFINALS<\/span><\/strong>

\nThere is no doubt that Adam Peaty is the greatest 100 breaststroker in history, and with a short-course world record (55.49) added to his ledger during semifinals of a recent International Swimming League competition, the British star only enhanced his legacy in the event.<\/p>\n

024 ROLAND SCHOEMAN FACING LONGER DOPING BAN IF HE CANNOT PROVE CONTAMINATION<\/span><\/strong>

\nOlympic relay gold medalist Roland Schoeman of South Africa is facing a longer doping ban\u2014possibly extended to May 2021\u2014if he cannot prove his supplement was contaminated. The South African was handed a one-year doping ban that ended in May 2020, testing positive for GW501516, a drug that is illegal and not commercially produced after testing in the mid-2000s deemed it a cancer risk.<\/p>\n

028 TORRI HUSKE REFLECTS ON U.S. OPEN TITLE IN 100 FREE WITH NEW BREATHING PATTERN<\/span><\/strong>

\nSwimming in Richmond, Va. at the recent nine-site virtual U.S. Open, Torri Huske tried out a new breathing pattern\u2014two cycles, then a breath, followed by one cycle and a breath\u2014in winning the 100 meter free in 54.04. Although Huske said she wasn\u2019t quite as fast as she had hoped, she is in good shape heading into 2021 with a variety of events to swim at the U.S. Olympic Trials next June.<\/p>\n

\nSerbia\u2019s Milorad Cavic recently reflected upon his swimming career on the \u201cInside with Brett Hawke\u201d podcast. Citing photos of the finish of the men\u2019s 100 fly at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, the silver medalist still believes he actually touched the wall first when he lost to Michael Phelps by 1-hundredth of a second!<\/p>\n
