{"id":455241,"date":"2021-11-09T13:19:00","date_gmt":"2021-11-09T20:19:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=455241"},"modified":"2021-11-10T16:27:59","modified_gmt":"2021-11-10T23:27:59","slug":"ahead-of-isl-playoffs-revisiting-world-record-of-caeleb-dressel-in-100-im-video","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ahead-of-isl-playoffs-revisiting-world-record-of-caeleb-dressel-in-100-im-video\/","title":{"rendered":"Ahead of ISL Playoffs, Revisiting World Record of Caeleb Dressel in 100 IM (Video)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Ahead of ISL Playoffs, Revisiting World Record of Caeleb Dressel in 100 IM (Video)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>With the 2021 International Swimming League (ISL) playoffs scheduled to start on Thursday, we take a trip back to the 2020 campaign and the world record of Caeleb Dressel in the 100-meter individual medley.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Following two world records from Saturday, <strong>Caeleb Dressel<\/strong> added a third global standard on Sunday, as the Cali Condors stormed to the team title to cap the second season of the <a href=\"https:\/\/isl.global\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">International Swimming League<\/a>. One week after setting the world mark in the 100 I.M. at 49.88, Dressel took the record down to 49.28, nearly a second faster than anyone else has ever been in the event. Before Dressel, <strong>Vladimir Morozov<\/strong> was the world-record holder at 50.26.<\/p>\n<p>Dressel didn&#8217;t waste any time taking control of the race, as he bolted to the front of the field on the butterfly leg. Dressel followed with a strong backstroke leg and then further extended his lead over breaststroke and freestyle. At the touch, Dressel looked to the scoreboard and celebrated emphatically, proof of his desire to deliver something special. That world record was complemented over the weekend by additional <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/watch-caeleb-dressel-break-two-world-records-set-american-mark-videos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">world records in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly<\/a>. In the 100 fly, the University of Florida product became the first man to crack the 48-second barrier.<\/p>\n<p>By winning the 100 I.M. in dominant fashion, Dressel was able to steal the points of the third through eighth-place finishers, a perk of the ISL&#8217;s Jackpot scoring system. With his Cali Condors teammate <strong>Marcin Cieslak<\/strong> finishing second, the Condos collected 37 points in the event and never looked back on the way to the team crown. Dressel and Cieslak accomplished the same feat during last week&#8217;s semifinals.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"oembed-wrap\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Caeleb Dressel 100 IM World Record
