Racing at the Duna Arena in Budapest, Kolesnikov clocked a time of 48.58 to beat the previous world record of 48.88, set by China&#8217;s <strong>Xu Jiayu<\/strong> in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Kolesnikov, who is the world-record holder in the long-course 50 backstroke, will get a chance to take the record even lower when the 100 backstroke is held on the second day of the meet. Kolesnikov will duel in the event with reigning Olympic champion <strong>Ryan Murphy<\/strong>. In his record swim en route to leading Energy Standard to victory in the 400 medley relay, Kolesnikov went out in 23.80. His previous best in the event was a 48.90.<\/p>\n<p>The world record was one of four on the day, as American <strong>Caeleb Dressel<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/watch-caeleb-dressel-break-two-world-records-set-american-mark-videos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">set global marks<\/a> in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly and the Cali Condors set a standard in the 400 medley relay, thanks to the efforts of <strong>Olivia Smoliga<\/strong>, <strong>Lilly King<\/strong>, <strong>Kelsi Dahlia<\/strong> and <strong>Erika<\/strong> <strong>Brown<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The second season of the ISL will conclude on Sunday and the record-breaking efforts are expected to continue, led by
