It downs the 2013 record of 59.55 set by <strong>Hilida Luthersdottir<\/strong> and is the fastest time in the country this season.<\/p>\n<p>Porter\u2019s Gators teammate <strong>Talia Bates<\/strong> also set the top time in the country (based on times entering Thursday) in the 200 freestyle, clocking in at 1:45.29 to win. Bates added a win in the 100 backstroke.<\/p>\n<p>After Day 2 of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/eric-friese-goes-19-46-leads-a-cut-200-free-relay-for-florida-at-auburn-invitational\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">three-day meet<\/a>, Florida leads Auburn, 347-291 in the women\u2019s event. The Gators lead the men\u2019s race, 346-306.<\/p>\n<p>Joining Cecilia Porter and Bates among the winners for the Florida women was <strong>Vanessa Pearl,<\/strong> with a 4:10.69 in the 400 individual medley. Florida\u2019s 800 free relay (<strong>Tylor Mathieu, Leah Braswell, Taylor Ault, Katelyn Mack<\/strong>) also won in 7:09.51, and <strong>Elizabeth Perez<\/strong> was the top scoring in the women\u2019s one-meter diving with 251.63 points.<\/p>\n<p>On the men\u2019s side, <strong>Kieran Smith<\/strong> and <strong>Bobby Finke<\/strong> again dueled in the 400 IM, the juniors earning a 1-2 finish for the Gators. Smith was fastest in 3:42.11. <strong>Eric Friese<\/strong> and <strong>Dillon Hillis<\/strong> went 1-2 in the 100 fly for the Gators, Friese clocking in at 46.63 seconds. Hillis would go on to win the 100 breast in 53.15, joining <strong>Trey Freeman<\/strong> (1:34.00 200 free) and <strong>Adam Chaney<\/strong> (47.23 100 back) among the winners.<\/p>\n<p>The Florida men won both relays: the 200 medley (Chaney, Hillis, Friese, <strong>Will Davis<\/strong>) in 1:25.31 and the 800 free (Smith, Finke, Freeman, <strong>Alfonso Mestre<\/strong>) in 6:21.67.<\/p>\n<p>Auburn started <a href=\"https:\/\/auburntigers.com\/news\/2020\/11\/19\/swimming-diving-auburn-enjoys-strong-second-day-at-fall-invitational.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the finals session strong<\/a>, winning the 200 medley relay. The foursome of <strong>Kensley Merritt, Carly Cummings, Abigail Gibbons<\/strong> and <strong>AJ Kutsch<\/strong> clocking in at 1:37.53. <strong>Jewels Harris<\/strong> won the women\u2019s 100 fly in 52.76, a 1-2 with Gibbons, and <strong>Conner Pruitt<\/strong> scored another diving win, claiming the men\u2019s three-meter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Freshman Cecilia Porter went 59.22 in the 100 breaststroke Thursday at the Auburn Fall Invitational, setting the University of Florida record in the event.
